After all of the states seceded, they announced the creation of the Confederate States of America. The south, then formed their government by choosing former war hero, Jefferson Davis as president, with vice president Alexander Stephens. The South’s government was new and wasn’t that strong, and the North already had an established government. The North had a better government; already giving them advantage. Although the North had a better government, the South was fighting in their homeland.
It altered the course of the war, led to the impartiality of all blacks, and changed the future for the posterity. The Emancipation Proclamation altered the course of the war for the better. It was now moral responsibility to triumph the Confederacy and unbind the millions of African Americans held in subjugation (Bodenner). This document also changed the Civil War from a war of troubles to a campaign of human freedom (Emancipation Proclamation History.com). Amongst the Civil War, General Patrick Cleburne had mentioned how, “slavery, from being one of our chief sources of strength," had evolved into "one of our chief sources of weakness" (Bodenner).
The North had many advantages over the South the helped them win the civil war. These reasons included a central leadership, more resources, and recruiting black men for their armies. These reasons helped the North win the civil war and play a big part in how successful they would be. With having advantages, better tactics when fighting, and also a higher population, the North would use strategic planning to fight the South and ultimately win the civil war. The Union, that was under Abraham Lincoln, keep the Northern states together and able to operate better.
The American Civil War began in 1861 and it came to an end on 13th May 1865, with a victory for the North. However, in the past the South had won earlier battles of the war, at first they appeared to have strong military leadership. There were many reasons why the South did not win the war, other than their poor strategy within the military generals. Economic, social, political and military were one of the major factors. The North was better economically than the South, and this enabled the North to buy more guns, supplies, and equipment for the war.
Lee to break the Union line but this brought the most important and affective battle of the American Civil War to an end. Lee had planned an assault on the Meade’s Center due his failure. Both armies were exhausted this day after fighting for so long. The Army of Potomac was too weak to attack or fight the confederates and Lee finally led his army out of the north. The Battle of Gettysburg was the turning point in the Civil war.
Abraham Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation, issued on the 1st of January 1863, was a presidential declaration that intended to abolish slavery. The counter argument may be stated that Lincoln’s proclamation was merely a war measure that only ended slavery in certain areas in order to ensure victory for the North. However, the emancipation proclamation marked the beginning of the end of the institution of slavery thus it was a success. Argument: Abraham Lincoln refers to his proclamation as "the central act of my administration, and the greatest event of the 19th century." (Source B2) Lincoln’s proclamation was one of strategy as it aimed to abolish slavery as well as recruit those previously enslaved to help the North win the civil war.
First of all the geography forced the Confederates to switch from offense to defense. The Battle of Gettysburg was the first and last battle fought in the North. All the other battles were fought in the South so the Confederate’s people and towns were constantly in danger. Document A illustrates that the General Lee were tired of being on the defense and wanted to be on the offense for a change. Document A states that even though the Confederates tried their hardest they were pushed back onto the defensive and ultimately lost the war (273).
The North ended the Reconstruction because they were too busy to look after the South, they were racist to African Americans, and they removed soldiers from Southern states. America was well into the Reconstruction and the nation was happy. The election of 1876 ruined the dreams of over 3 million African Americans. The winner of the election of 1876 was Rutherford B. Hayes. President Hayes was a member of the Democratic party, but actually did not win the election until later.
I am Abe lincoln, the 16th president. When I became president many states withdraw from the union. I wanted to do good within this country, and having the country split up into two sides made it harder for my goal to become a reality. So I did what I could only do and declared a civil war. After they declare Civil War, I had no choice but to fight back in to get the confederacy so join us again.
Not everyone was happy, but it brought happiness to a lot of families. On 1863 he also signed the Emancipation of proclamation that freed all slaves from confederacy.
