It altered the course of the war, led to the impartiality of all blacks, and changed the future for the posterity. The Emancipation Proclamation altered the course of the war for the better. It was now moral responsibility to triumph the Confederacy and unbind the millions of African Americans held in subjugation (Bodenner). This document also changed the Civil War from a war of troubles to a campaign of human freedom (Emancipation Proclamation History.com). Amongst the Civil War, General Patrick Cleburne had mentioned how, “slavery, from being one of our chief sources of strength," had evolved into "one of our chief sources of weakness" (Bodenner).

In the South. Much blood was shredded in the South through the civil war years, freed slaves suffered and a lot of them was killed, by hanging known as lynching, castrating ,burning their homes, churches and even the slaves because they wouldn’t return back to the plantations. However in April 18654 Lee surrendered to Grant, John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Lincoln, and many refused to mourned Lincoln’s death due to freeing the slaves.
With no final agreement, the country had no other choice but to go to war with itself. The slow decline of the, once powerful, Southern economy and the major issue of the abolishment of slaves are what led to the cause of the American Civil War. While economics and political structure played an important role in the cause of the Civil War, slavery was the main reason why altercations arose. Many historians and teachers try to hide the fact that slavery was such a huge factor in the cause of the Civil War because they looked at slavery as the “norm”. To them, the differences between the Republicans and Democratic formed great disagreement.
Progress, greed, racism, and economic gain are the causes of much bloodshed and almost the complete destruction of a nation. Liberty is the sole reason for years of debates and compromises; two sides (North and South) with a different interpretations and a way of life. For Southerners liberty meant the right to own slaves and for slaves and most Northerners liberty meant ending
The most important turning point of the war was the battle of Vicksburg because it split the Confederacy in half, led to the rise of Ulysses S. Grant, and gave the Union control of the Mississippi. The battle of Vicksburg “cut” the Confederacy in half- Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana were cut off from the rest of the Confederacy. This cut off supplies to the Confederacy from the West. It was a major blow both economically and psychologically. Vicksburg led to the rise of the general Grant; the Union victory lead to Grant being promoted to the General-In-Chief of all Union armies.
Thomas Jonathan Stonewall Jackson (January 21, 1824 – May 10, 1863) was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, and the best-known Confederate commander after General Robert E. Lee. His military career includes the Valley Campaign of 1862 and his service as a corps commander in the Army of Northern Virginia under Robert E. Lee. Confederate pickets accidentally shot him at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 2, 1863. The general survived with the loss of an arm to amputation, but died of complications from pneumonia eight days later. His death was a severe setback for the Confederacy, affecting not only its military prospects, but also the morale of its army and of the general public.
The north being against slavery and the south supporting it was the main cause for the division which caused the war. Slavery was a major part in the Old South, and the loss of the war for the south would result in the loss of the most distinctive factor of the Old South. Many of the farms and plantations either had, or even relied on slaves, and once again Rhett saw this coming and advised Scarlett to get every last glimpse of the Old South. Rhett was very observant when it came to the events of the war, and he wanted to warn the others of the eventual down fall of the Old South. He did just that on the way to Tara, and what he said is very true.

Another one of its failures was during reconstruction the United
He calls these battles from 1861-1863. After the defeat at Gettysburg in 1863 the southern cause was doomed. The South did not have the resources to fight a long war. At the outset the North numbered 20 million people; the South had only nine million, four million of these were slaves. The Federals waged a war against Southern civilians destroying their crops, their cities, and their homes.
The American Civil War was fought between the Northern and Southern states between 1861 and 1865. It is thought to be one of the most destructive events in American history, costing more than 600,000 lives. Today as you read about the causes of the war, slavery is given as the main and almost sole reason for the conflict. This is certainly not the case. One example would be the statement in the Congressional Record of United States where it documents the war was not fought to abolish slavery.
