Compare the two overall philosophies presented in each film? (How they propose accomplishing their goals).
The renewable energy side of things is working to become a substitute for natural resources which are used to operate so much in our society. They are focused on maximizing the efficiency of the power which they generate from solar panels as well as wind turbines. It is believed that the more that people use solar panels the cheaper they will become to produce and therefore cheaper for the consumers. With cheaper prices for customers, renewable energy will become more available to all people.
The simpler way project is experimenting with ways to live sustainably without harming our environment. What they have discovered is that in living simply you save a lot of money. In the simpler way project people who don’t know each other are required to live in a small community and adapt to various ways of living. Being that they all live in such a small community they use each of their individual skills and knowledge to help improve the way their community functions. Living as close to nature as the people in the simpler way project have allows for you to become more connected with other people as well as nature.
The renewable energy field has people working on maximizing the efficiency of solar panels and wind turbines. By doing this they are making renewable energy more logical and therefore increasing the sales of these renewable energy instruments. By creating more sales, they allow for cheaper production and greater available. Being that renewable energy is becoming more common, systems need to be improved in order to store the large amounts of energy.
