In Patrick Henry’s “Speech in the Virginia Convention,” Henry uses persuasive techniques such as repetition and rhetorical questions to interrogate the motives of the British and to reason why the colonies should declare their independence despite the consequences. In Henry’s speech, he uses repetition to address that war is inevitable to show how they must fight in order to achieve their goals as a nation and to prove that the colonists will not be alone over the course of the battle. In Henry’s speech he includes, “The war is inevitable—and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come!” By this quote, Henry is saying that the colonists have already gone so far and worked so hard to give up now. Also, he is saying that if they give up, they
During the Revolutionary War, the unity of the colonists was strong, as they had to fight against the British, despite the British having larger militia forces. In Document C, Richard Henry Lee stated that “all N. America is now most firmly united and as firmly resolved to defend their liberties ad infinitum against every power on Earth that may attempt to take them away.” This was said while the war was happening, and how British wouldn’t stop fighting the colonists until they got their money from taxes. The British were determined to fight until they won, despite how much it hurt both sides. Lee states how despite the size of the conflict, Americans will continue to fight together to win their freedom. Document E is a part of the Continental Congress in 1775 that discusses how Americans needed to bear arms.
The colonist had received weeks before news warning of this British search and had already moved most of the supplies. It is during this battle that Paul Revere and others made their famous midnight ride and alerted the colonist that the British were coming. The British were eventually defeated and retreated under fire. In an exert from a report from Lt. Col. Smith to Gen. Gage, it shows how the Colonist hide behind walls, ditches, trees etc., to defend their home
When the British received the First Continental Congresses demands, they did not fulfill the forced requests. They instead brought troops to the Colonies to recast abolish their power there. On the other hand, the colonists had no intentions to lose their home, so they began to form a new militia, called Minutemen. When the British arrived, they sent seven hundred troops to capture important leaders. When Paul Revere saw them marching towards him, he made his famous ride to warn the Minutemen.
To begin, I will look at a little back ground of each revolution and then the main cause. Once I get done with that, I will then compare the causes to each other. Let’s begin with the American revolution the conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists in 1778, turning what had essentially been a civil war into an international conflict.
How did legal documents establish a portrait of American society? The documents gave America a different picture. The Virginia convention speech inspired many people to want peace in America. When Declaration of Independence was made the thirteen colonies where made. The crisis inspires people to fight for independence.
The revolution occurred because of clash of interest of british and colonist, Inflaming tensions by the colonist also cause revolution with Great Britain, and the third reason why the american revolution couldn’t have been avoided was the Boston Massacre. The American Revolution couldn’t have been avoided. First and foremost, I do strongly believe the american revolution couldn’t of been have been avoided. According to enotes.com “ The American Revolution could perhaps have been postponed even longer. If the british had given the colonies representation in parliament”.
British armies doing as they’re told and taxing the Pilgrims that came to the “new world’ in search of freedom. The British did this to control the Pilgrims and also make them dependent on the British to survive; the pilgrims did not come all that way to have the same thing to happen them here. The pilgrims were resilient in their fight for freedom and it was proven at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Major General William Howe command his troops at the bottom of the hill. He led his troops up the hill, where General Prescott and his troops were waiting for them.
The first village built by the English was named “James Fort” in honor of their monarch. Within two weeks the Indians, known as the Powhatan’s, found out from the Secotans (North Carolina Native Americans), where most of the recent settlements got “lost”, so they attacked the village. The attack was a failure because the British drew out the Indians with cannons and muskets. After the British drove the Indians away showing more power they also had disadvantages, most of the settlers were trained soldiers and gentries which means they didn’t have enough farmers and farm land to feed all 150 colonists. By the first half of September more than half of the James Fort city (later Jamestown) colonists died, taking the Powhatan’s to pity.
It began with the first shooting in Lexington and Concord. They are the sign of the start of revolution war. Colonists needed to fight with British army for freedom. They needed to get together and have a concentration of power. However, in early time of America, the states were controlled by themselves. They had different constitution, different policies, even use different money.

The British had won the hill and the battle, but they did have many soldiers and officers die, unlike the Americans. This gave the Americans courage knowing that they could stand up to the British. Many more colonists joined the army after the battle and the revolution continued to
