The Great Gatsby, a classic novel, was made into a movie in 1974 and again in 2013. The movies are very different and very similar. The directors of both movies kept the plot the same as best as they could and changed some scenes. The director of the 2013 movie tried to make the movie seem modern but still old. The director of the 1974 kept the movie old with older music. The older movie was a film that was made for its time. That means the style of it was modern to its time period. The music was classic 1920s and the dancing was around the same time also. The newer movie was a film that was made a little more modern. The music was not in the same time period as the book, nor was the dancing. In the older movie the movie starts with the

Fireworks are going off, people are jumping into pools. Musicians doing their thing. In the older movie all we see is people dancing and jumping into the fountain. We don’t see all the extra detail like thats in the first one. So I believe Fitzgerald would prefer this scene of the newer movie than the older movie cause of the good detail put into
The director of the first version, made in 2000, seems to view it as a joke, but perhaps saw profit from producing this movie. The movie formed in 2013, seems to take the book more serious, and though seeing profit as well, wanted to make certain aspects shine through. Though both films have similarities, the differences are much more powerful and depict how the actors and directors view the novel. One of the major differences was the choice of
Love, a deep affection for someone or something, is used in most literary pieces whether it is fiction or nonfiction. Each literary piece can have a relation to other love stories based on how the author writes the book. For instance, two books that have similar love stories are The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. These love stories are alike because they try to do everything they can to receive the person they love, the main characters love is inseparable when they are together, and each relationship at the end of the books result in a heartbreak. Even though this is what most relationships experience, these two love stories are unusual.
Another difference is that in the movie they go into town, but in the book it 's never mentioned. Something else that was different was that in the book the mood was happy most of the time, while in the movie the mood was sad. A difference between the book and the movie is that in the book momma was going to burn Byron, but in the movie she does not burn him. A big difference is that in the
“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne ceasley into the past.” These famous words were written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and said only in one out of two movies. The words from the character Nick Caraway, are said in the novel and most recent movie of The Great Gatsby. To start off with the various similarities and differences the focus shall be moved toward the sexualiness/affairs of characters. In both movies, there are two affairs.
The great Gatsby essay In this essay, i will be talking about the main differences between the movie and the novel, moreover, i will share my insightful views of this book. This book reflects attitudes and values prevailing upon 1920’s America. In 1920’s, the tempo of the city approached hysteria.
Both versions use the setting to convey the concept of star crossed love. The 1996 version uses the
The entire plot of the movie “The Great Gatsby,” directed by Baz Luhrmann, is pretty much very accurate to the novel of the same name written by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. They both center around a man named Jay Gatsby who throws extravagant parties in hope that one day his love Daisy will wander in. Of course like all movies that are based off of books they all have their similarities and differences. Whether they be very small or very noticeable, sometimes even changing the entire story completely, they are still there. Sometimes the purpose of this could be that the director wants to add their own little twist to the story or it could be that they are going for a much deeper meaning or symbolism.
Many things are different between the story and the film, for example Mary prepared her make-up and steadied her voice while preparing to go to the store. Their was different between them such as when in the story Patrick is a detective but in the film he’s a chief. The Characters in the film were very similar to the picture
Daniel Aguirre Ms. Tobias English III GT - 6th 12 January 2017 After analyzing both the movie and the novel, I have discovered similarities and differences. Ill try to compare and contrast the two since the movie does not depict the story exactly as how the novel does. Similarities There were still some similarities in the film that tied back to the book. One of the main ones is when Nick walks to Gatsby’s backyard and finds him standing at the edge of his dock reaching out to what was a green light.
The first thing with a big difference was the Sorting Hat. In the book, before the Sorting Hat starts placing people in houses, it sings a song but in the movie there is no song. The song in the book adds more character in the hat which makes it a little disappointing

The Great Gatsby is similar to Romeo and Juliet. Gatsby is in love with Daisy in "The Great Gatsby" while in "Romeo and Juliet" the 2013 film Romeo is in love with Juliet. Gatsby would do anything for Daisy. In "Romeo and Juliet" they would do anything for each other. Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves in the end so they could be together.
