Jefferson wanted to stop the shipment of goods, war materials and other things during the time of Napoleonic Wars. Jefferson also hoped that the Embargo act would orevent any possible wars between the United States and other allied countries. The mbargo act was passed in the month of December in 1807 and it did, in fact, prevent all the possible wars. Others thought it was a father of the War
The Federalists opposed the Louisiana Purchase due to political reasons. In document B it states, “The cowardly wretch at their head [Jefferson]”. This quote displays how low the Federalists thought of Jefferson. The document also states, “an infernal pleasure in the utter destruction of his opponents”, showing that Jefferson is thought of as a man with demonic pleasures against the Federalists. Further reasoning is that if they denied him an amendment to buy Louisiana, he would be stuck in a dilemma.

The territory made up all or part of fifteen modern U.S. states between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains. Though Napoleon Bonaparte wanted to turn New Orleans into France 's New commercial capitol, Jefferson was confident he would not be able to and persisted negotiations to purchase the land from France. In addition to making military preparations for a conflict in the Mississippi Valley, Jefferson sent James Monroe to join Robert Livingston in France to try to purchase New Orleans and West Florida for as much as $10 million. If I had been a member of the bourgeoisie I believe I would have been satisfied with Napoleon's actions. The bourgeoisie, or middle class in 1700s France, would have been merchants, bankers, professionals, factory owners, and skilled artisans. Some bourgeoisie, being the first group of the third estate, were as rich as nobles, but lacked their privileges. Many wanted a higher degree of social status or more political power because of their wealth.

He wished to show that he was taking power, not being granted it by the church. From 1804 to 1814, then again in 1815 for the Hundred Days, Napoleon ruled. Much controversy evolved during his reign over whether he was advancing or reversing the spirit of the French Revolution.
The Westward Expansion all started when America made the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. There were many benefits from the purchase for the US that the French didn’t realize before they sold it. The purchase gave the US access to the Mississippi river which allowed for expansion of river trade to the North and South from the center of the US. The port city of New Orleans was bought by the US and its prosperity benefited the US greatly. The US sent Lewis and Clark west to investigate the land they purchased.
Louis Napoleon was born on April 20, 1808 in Paris, France. He was the son of Louis Napoleon I, who was crowned king of Hollon by his brother Napoleon, and Hortense de Beauharnais. He was kept in exile throughout his childhood and youth after his mother, had been banished from France like all the other Bonaparte 's, after the fall of Napoleon I. There he was educated and he became interested in history and ideas of national liberty, and even at a young age he always thought of getting the Napoleonic empire to himself. Later on in his life he moved back to Italy to join the Carbonari, to fight against Austria taking over Northern Italy.
For some, it was destiny to move west. Although there were many conflicts and disagreements between ourselves and others, it was destiny to move west because of overpopulation, new inventions of transportation methods, and new opportunities. In the 19th Century, overpopulation was one of the major reasons for Westward Expansion. Immigrants were flooding into America for new opportunities and new ways of life and there was just not enough land to suffice the needs for all of the people. These immigrants were arriving in America in the port cities on the East Coast.
I am 35 years old and I have never been to the East side of America. This has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy, and up until this point the idea of traveling to the East was thought of as an impossible journey. When I found out that the idea was put out to make a railroad that extended from the West coast of America to the East coast of America I wanted to be a part of it. After the Civil War, many northerners began to promote the west, they wanted to advise people that there was scientific evidence that rain follows the plow. These promoters began promoting these images in magazines and writing articles to address that the west would soon be known as "The Garden of America. " People began to pack up all they had and moved to the west in hopes of providing for their families. It was a time of desperation for many Americans, newly freed Africa-Americans thought it would be a great opportunity to move out to the west. Corporations began to move west as well, the development of agribusiness began.
Jefferson’s dilemma in the Louisiana Purchase In April of 1803 Thomas Jefferson was faced with many moral dilemmas in the process of buying the Louisiana territory. Though the price for the territory was beyond generous, Jefferson felt that by purchasing the territory he would be going against his beliefs that the constitution should be followed word for word. The constitution said nothing of the president having the power to purchase land from another government, or to use money of the states for the same purpose (“the moral dilemma”). Another problem was once the land was purchased, there was a fear that it could have been a waste since they had no way to know the layout of the land, and what it would be useful for.
