English Essay Caleb Williams August 29, 2017 Because of safety concerns, many states are increasing the age teens can begin to drive. Virginia is considering increasing the age from sixteen to eighteen. I believe it should not be changed; however, many people have quite an opposite opinion. Sixteen is a good age to start driving. I think it should not be changed because inexperienced driving has nothing to do with age, teens need to be able to drive to work, and it allows teens to learn responsibility.
Why should we even have to be a certain age to be able to drive? Some people think no one under the age of 18 should be able to drive. If no one under the age 18 were able to drive then so many kids would be staying home bored annoying their parents and eating all the food in the house, and getting out of shape. So many kids have been happier because there able to get out of the house and do stuff.
Driving is apart of most teens, and adults lives for many years. There are many exciting moments from getting a license to cramming as many friends in into a car (Zermike 6-7). On the other hand there are terrifying moments from being involved in a car accident, to losing your life, and your friends life. It is important for teens to realize the responsibilities that come with driving.
While others feel as if it would help our youths safety or better yet everyone’s safety. The minimum driving age should be raised because it will give parents a certainty that their child will be safer behind the wheel and preserve younger lives. Majority of people debate if the driving age should be raised or not. There are more benefits to raising it then to keep the age to where it’s at. Being a young driver can be quite exciting since you can take on the world as more of an adult.
As I think raising the driving age to 18 is a benefit with less harm.while not raising it will harm lives.therefore,it should be discussed. Futhermore,traffic accidents is affecting the lives of the future generation. I think raising the driving age to 18 plays a part in preventing massive car crashes. As its being found that the underage drivers are more likely to go into car accidents than adults ' 'Those who favor raising the driving age say that statistics show teenagers are more likely to get into accidents than adults ' '.(Palicz).I assume if we raise driving age to 18 such incidents will decrease. I also believe adults are more prepared for driving than underage
I believe this because first of all, if the driving age were to be raised, it would limits teens’ options for the future and or present. Next, it gives teens more independence, and teaches them about responsibility. Lastly teens can transport themselves and get where they need to be. The cons to raising the driving age outweigh the pros. One reason is that not being able to drive at an earlier age limits teens.
The driving age shouldn’t be changed to 21 because it’s unfair and inconvenient . The driving age you should be allowed to drive at is 16 since that is this age right now that we can start driving . It’s not fair to the kids that are learning how to drive right now. My 18 year old cousin would get his driver's license taken because he is not 21 and wouldn’t be able to drive since he would be considerd under age driving. Some kids are learning how to drive right now because they are old enough since the age right know to be able to drive is 16.

It allows someone to get where they need to be without having to depend on others to take them there. It also requires responsibility. In order to drive, you have to be safe and follow the laws.
Being a teenager only happens once in a person’s lifetime. A person will have to work a job from adulthood until retirement in order to provide a life for themselves and their families. A teenager should not have to take on the responsibilities of a job until they must. A job requires time, commitment, and hard work. A teenager should put that time, commitment, and hard work into other aspects in their lives.
Driving is important to many teens, so why do they risk getting hurt or disobeying the law? Many teens are unaware of the great responsibility that is being entrusted to them. Many teens do stupid things like drinking and driving or texting and driving or they might speed for an unrealistic reason. I’ve learned that there really is no need to speed or to even have your phone on while in the car. Also how hard is it to have a friend that isn’t toxified drive you home, by doing most of these mistakes a lot of people get hurt.
Teens are at greater risk of accidents than those licensed later. In the United States, only the oldest drivers drive less then do teenagers. Nonetheless, Teens have a disproportionately high rate of accidents and fatalities while driving. Responding to evidence of high driving risks involving teens, more states are increasingly adding more restrictions on how and when teens drive, and who can ride with them. Teens have more trouble multitasking than adults.
