The entire family worked and some had to work in worse or more dangerous working conditions than others. “‘ At the end of the week, he would carry home three dollars to his family, being his pay at the rate of five cents per hour just about his proper share of the total earnings of the million and three-quarters of children who are now engaged in earning their livings in the United States.’”(p.60). This quote shows how Stansislovas has to work in child labor to earn a living. Jurgis sprained his ankle during his job while he was working at the meat packing factory. Frank's family was very mean to him and treated him like he was a slave. His step-father made him do all the chores around the house and his step-brothers did very little. He resented his family and wished he could move into a grand palace with lots of nice things. He was very materialistic and did not value relationships with others.
On the first day of the hunt, the reader is drawn into an initial comparison of the two scenes as the poet uses similar language to set up a description of the morning light of the two scenes. From here, a reader is inclined to continue a comparison, most notably that between Sir Gawain and the hunted deer. The hunter’s in Lord Bertilak’s party disturb the peaceful existence of the deer just as the entrance of the lady intrudes on Sir Gawain: “and while snoozing he heard a slyly made sound, the sigh of a door swinging slowly aside” (1182-1183). The lady’s forceful intrusion suggests that Sir Gawain is the prey that she intends to hunt. Further, the language suggests a predator-prey relationship, relating their encounter to that of a hunt: “she charmed him and she chased, but every move she made he countered” (1260-1262).
Living as he does alone in the wild is a reminder of his own natural condition. For Frank, the theme of belonging to the earth has a cultural meaning. He is most fulfilled when he is behaving in a traditional manner and surviving using his own skills at hunting and trapping in the
About one hundred thousand workers from six hundred different mills were on strike there. The strikers wanted their work cut from sixty to fifty-five hours. About a sixth of the strikers were children under sixteen.” ( 5, Josephson). As a result, she gathered a large group of mill children and their parents, shaming the mill owners of their actions.
Before wolves were reintroduced, they had been absent for 17 years, the number of deer built up and up despite man’s attempt to bring the population down. Because there were too many deer, they were thinning the forest. When the wolves were released into Yellow Stone they began killing the deer, because of this the deer’s behavior began to change cause them to avoid certain parts of the forest. Life began to flourish, the trees begun growing and because of this the birds returned as well as the beavers. Also, the wolves began to kill coyotes which allowed rabbits and mice populations to grow again.

The air is brisk, with dew all over the grass and trees. The time of the year is the middle of November, during my favorite part of the year, hunting season. Now in Oklahoma, the weather is normally around the 20’s and 30’s, but this particular morning the air temperature was two degrees. This is a great sign for deer hunters, when I wake up I check the weather for that morning. From the temperature, wind, and precipitation, everything was absolutely perfect.
as we race to the woods at 5 in the morning to shoot a deer, this was my very first time going hunting I was very excited be cause I had just go my 243 and was ready to shoot a deer. We went to the woods next to my cabin and we took out the guns and loade. When we got to a place where there were lots of beaten down runs we found a log that was next to a dead tree I placed the rifle on my lap and watches for and little movement, then an hour later we heard some sticks breaking. I pulled the sicht next to my eye and was looking all over with the scope and there was a giant squirrel.

One of the best days of my life was when we went deer hunting in South Dakota with my dad, brother, uncle and two cousins, but before I tell you about my trip let me tell you how it started. We left early in the morning to head to South Dakota where my cousin Jacob, who had just got a job as Game warden in Custer State Park, was taking us deer hunting. We got as far as Fargo, North Dakota when my cousin Keith asked my dad where our license were. Then to our surprise we forgot them back at home. We were lucky enough to have my two aunts and mom bring us the license because they were going to Fargo that day anyways for a girls shopping day.
