JONESTOWN What happens when you combine a ruthless leader’s hypnotic voice and disturbing ideas with average, vulnerable people? Almost 1,000 people lost in a trance, lies and deception, ending with a mass suicide killing over 900 people. More specifically; Jonestown.
Introduction The little community of Attawapiskat, Ontario, Canada has been and is currently facing an immense loss due to a high amount of youth suicides. The community has been under a state of emergency since April 2016 after many of the community’s youth have tried to or succeed at committing suicide. These suicides have been the product of colonialism and intergenerational trauma from the generations that came before them. The devastation in the community can teach Child and Youth Care practitioners how to put into action programs that build youth’s strengths and resilience as well as overcome any negative factor that have been created during this epidemic.
Desks across the United States are remaining empty in busy, learning environments. Whether that be in the classroom, on the basketball court, or even in the stands along the football field. Teenage suicide has seen a tremendous increase in the past decade. “Empty Seat PSA” was produced to spread awareness about teenage suicide. “Empty Seat PSA” is trying to spread awareness to limit those numbers.
Through an analysis of data, on why teens commit suicide, it has been shown that those teens were uneducated on how to cope with their problems and their own self worth in the world. Suicide comes from many factors. It comes from a whirlwind of negative things happening, piling up on oneself, then soon falling over on the person causing them to become emotionally drained down to the core. At this point the only way of responding to end their pain is by committing suicide.
Escaping Residential Schools; Racism, Alcoholism, Rates of suicide How would you feel growing up around alcoholic parents that became that way because of residential schools? How would it make you feel knowing that your parents were beaten in every which way by the canadian government? These survivors children suffer from alcoholism, racism and high rates of suicide. There are long lasting effects on not only these residential school survivors but their next generations.

Suicide and Bullying Among LGBTQ Youth Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people ages 10 to 24 (CDC). Students who fall into the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, or questioning identity groups report being five times as more likely to miss school because they feel unsafe after being bullied because of their sexual orientation. LGB youth are 4 times more likely, and questioning youth are 3 times more likely, to attempt suicide as their straight peers (CDC). Nearly half of young transgender people have seriously thought about taking their lives, and one quarter report having made a suicide attempt (Grossman and D’Augelli). It is impossible to know the exact suicide rate of LGBTQ youth because sexuality and gender minorities
I was notified at 1725 hours by Cpl C. Keene of a suicide at 12th Avenue South and 50th Street South. Upon my arrival at approximately 1759 hours, I met with Crime Scene Tech, Garman and Deputies Corbitt # 247662 and Collado # 9127. I observed a white and green Ford F150 pick up truck, parked north of the west end of 12th Ave South and west of McKay Bay Trail on a dirt and grass path. THe truck was parked facing westbound. When I looked in the vehicle, I observed in the driver’s seat, a W/M slumped to his right, wearing a green polo shirt.

According to Lu Hsun and De Beauvoir, they believe that society consume others to maintain hierarchy and order by dehumanizing them. The rest of society is consumed because they lacked the social status or does not have right elements which the consumers justify themselves with the order they believe in. However, to Lu Hsun people only become consumed if they fall below the level of importance but their status can be improved over time as the people above die. The social status is justified because it is the traditional that society has carried on for yours although it may not be morally right. They continued to do this because the consumers are does not want to give up the power because if the status is changed then the possibility of losing
Suicide is a big issue in the lives of adolescents today. It has become more prevalent than ever before and something needs to be done in schools to help these students. I personally believe that to help the students we first need to educate the teachers. If the adults in the lives of these students are not properly educated in recognizing the warning signs for suicide and even depression then how are these children supposed to ask them for help? Once these teachers have been educated then it is time to educate the students.
An emphasis is placed on the importance of identifying warning signs and risk factors for depression and suicide amongst teens. According to the research conducted by King and Vidourek (2012) early detection and suicidal warning signs is seen to be crucial for effective intervention. Teenagers need to be encouraged to be more proactive when it comes to their personal mental health. Positive coping mechanisms such as problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, and good conflict resolution skills are all essential in lessening the likelihood that a teen exhibiting depressive behaviors will go forth and take their own life. As most teenagers spend most of their time in school, better prevention and intervention programs need to be in place.
Suicide is a dominant cause of death among teenagers and young adults. The rate of suicides and suicide attempts increases from time to time. For some, suicide is the permanent solution to a temporary problem and most pressing public health issues across the world. Suicides case is so often these days even becoming a trend and we are not even flinch anymore. The depression and substances abuse for teenagers currently become issues that lead to suicide cases among teenagers.
How Do We Fight Youth Depression? In today’s world, depression is the first leading cause of adolescent suicides. It is a growing problem in our present society and is often a major contributing factor to one’s personality. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (of the US), one out of every four teenagers undergoes depression.
