What is globalization?
Globalization is a complex subject. Essentially, it is how nations interact with one another. These interactions are various, but the root cause of globalization is commerce. This is not a new process, for example, trade routes from Europe to Asia date back centuries with the Silk Road, as well as the lesser known Roman/Indian trade route, and Incense Route. In modern times, globalization has progressed to not only spread goods, but additionally investment, philosophy, knowledge, and ideology. Is it good, bad, or inevitable?
While there are advocates and detractors of globalization, globalization is neither inherently good or bad. Through reading through the assigned readings, some pros of globalization to the general

In our last reading in the section about Global System Theory, this was made clear as globalization's path was defined with the advancement of markets in Europe following technological discovery in the 1500’s. Then, European countries centralized their investment heavy focus on themselves, looking outward for resources and cheap unskilled labor. They were able to retain their new wealth by having militaristic force to protect themselves and enforce their trade routes. The reason globalization has really come to a head in the past century has been due to advancements in technology. This is also mentioned in the reading about Global Culture Theory, how modern technological innovation pushed the envelope for globalization. In specific, transportation of people, goods, and information technologies have all advanced at incredible speed. Today investment can be made in fractions of a second thanks to the internet, super cargo ships are capable of holding tremendous amounts of goods (a Maersk Triple E class ship can carry 165,000 tonnes), and people are able to travel with relative ease around the globe on aircrafts such as a Boeing 747 that can cruise at 575 miles per hour. These factors lowered the barriers of commerce and knowledge exchange have brought the world closer …show more content…
I find myself agreeing the most with World Culture Theory. This allows for the individual to consider the other players out there, and in essence, what it suggests is that people are becoming globally aware. I no longer just consider myself one person from the northeastern part of America. I’m a person living on our spaceship Earth as we are being propelled throughout the cosmos. I come from a certain culture with a certain government and a certain society and I am a person. This is just the same as anyone, anywhere on this planet. With this knowledge and perspective we can come hopefully come to terms with our differences and take care of the system which is giving us life,
1. There were many new technologies that enabled the growth of interregional trade networks and development. Among these were the astrolabe, the compass, and forms of credit. Other technologies such as improvement in writing and accounting systems and ocean ready ships also helped to enable the growth of interregional trade networks and agricultural development. This is because all of these technologies in some way help to contribute to trade and/or agriculture which is extremely important for this era.
Globalization has had an impact on just about everywhere in the world, whether it be positive or negative. There have been many benefits and good things that have come out of this international movement. We have more goods, we are more connected, things are easier to do, goods are cheaper, and life values and conditions have improved, but what about the people who don't have access to these benefits? What about the people we don't talk about, the ones who make those cheap goods? For some, many negatives have come out of globalization, like decreased living conditions and isolation, even if in our eyes it seems all good and like we couldn't live without it.
Globalization in the past 80 years has connected our world exceptionally well compared to the years before. Just under 80 years ago, when World War II ended, people saw an opportunity to grow together and learn from past mistakes. Globalization has brought the world together which has caused poverty rates to go down, work systems to become stronger leading to more accessibility, and overall life expectancy to increase. Globalization has forever changed the ways of the world and will continue to benefit people by bringing us together to become one substantial world. Globalization has benefited our world involving the decrease in poverty rates.
Each person has their own unique culmination of experiences that make up their life. These experiences are the knowledge basis for one’s perceptions and therefore, affects how they interact with others and the world in numerous ways. A person’s background influences the way they view their own capabilities, future, and education as well as how they perceive other cultures. As a result, one’s cultural background and experiences predominantly affects how they view the world. A person’s past experiences affects how they see a certain place or culture.
Globalization is the process by which spreading and sharing ideas, goods, techniques, and technologies creates a constant connection between countries (Mann 7). There were
One may not understand how they see the world, but there are numerous sources that authenticate the fact that culture affects the way the world and people in it are viewed by oneself. A few examples of credible sources are: “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker, “Two Ways to Belong in America” by Bharati Mukherjee, “An Indian Father’s Plea” by Robert Lake, and “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini. These stories are all very different from one another yet they all have one thing in common, a way of putting a view of the world into words. There are also many real life events that validate the effects of culture on people’s outlooks.
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world. The most common example of globalization might be Ebay or Amazon. Nowadays flows of goods and services are not only cheap and fast, but reliable and secure.
Globalization has its bad sides but is not all bad, it has lead to a greater trade network between countries and has saved lives by spreading information, medicine, clean water and food. But it also has its major down sides like outsourcing resulting in lower prices for goods but lost jobs for developed countries and poor paying, miserable jobs for developing countries. So, overall i think that globalization is good in some ways but In the past and present it has affected many people
I. INTRODUCTION a. BACKGROUND: Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different countries, a procedure compelled by international trade and investment, and supported by information technology. Furthermore, this process has an effect on various other systems such as on the environment, culture, political systems, economic development and prosperity and lastly, on human physical well-being in societies around the world. “Since 1950, for example, the volume of world trade has increased by 20 times, and from just 1997 to 1999 flows of foreign investment nearly doubled, from $468 billion to $827 billion” (York, 2016). Technology has been another primary driver of globalization,
Traditional Western approach to modern psychology The Traditional Western approach has had a great influence on modern psychology. The Traditional Western approach differs quite a lot from the African perspective, but has made a big impact on psychology today. “How does 21st century globalization differ from 20th century globalization?” Globalization heavily implies the opening of local and nationalistic perspectives to a broader outlook of an interconnected and interdependent world with free transfer of capital, goods, and services across national frontiers. It also occasionally discusses the less common dimensions of globalization, such as environmental globalization or military globalization . Those dimensions, however, receive much less attention the three described above, as academic literature commonly subdivides globalization into three major areas which are economic globalization, cultural globalization and political globalization. The evolution of globalization is still open for debate according to some scholar’s dates back to Ice Age when people used to travel in search of food, trade and security.
Information can be accessed easily and freely through the internet, mobile phones, television and other devices. Globalization has increased the economic right for people worldwide especially in the developed world. There has been an increase in the standard of living of many people hence healthy lifestyles. However in my opinion, globalization has done more harm than good to the people of the world especially people in the developing world.

Economic life has been transformed dramatically by the advances in information technology.
This paper will explore both the advantages and disadvantages that globalization has on the world. Globalization is good for economy. First, Enterprises can operate internationally, and production can be produced internationally. Similar to poor countries like Africa, although they are poor, they have a lot of cheap labor, other countries will make their goods
Then I will state the links between globalization and some of the other lectures that we have covered this year, I chose this lecture because it’s one of the most important parts of any business environment worldwide, globalization has also introduced many developments such as internationalization, liberalization etc. Topic Discussion: Globalization has opened the doors between all businesses and countries worldwide, it has created connections without boundaries and a global exchange of information, cultures etc. It has widely increased the flow of money exchange and foreign investments in countries, and created an involvement between different people in many political, social and economical activities.
