According to the Julian calendar, most oftenly used during the mid 1600’s in England, Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642. The Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar (the most common used calendar internationally) do have some idiosyncrasies though, and his day of birth is commonly known as January 4th, 1643 according to the Gregorian calendar. Newton was born in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England to Hannah Ayscough newton and Isaac Newton Senior. Isaac Newton Senior died three short months before his son was born.
