This is why her actions were innovative. The stories that Isabel Allende told were inspirational and new, because she spoke her mind and tried to inspire others to do the same. “These are profound, transcendent stories, which hold the mirror up to nature and in their strangeness reveal us to ourselves." (“Isabel Allende,” 1998). She proved that any gender and any race can do magnificent things. Since this wasn’t that common before, she was viewed as an innovative person. “Her female characters survive hardships--imprisonment, starvation, the loss of loved ones--but never lose their spirit or ability to love others.” (“Isabel Allende,” 1998). This quote proves that Isabel Allende was always trying to portray that women are just as strong and important as men in her stories. She expressed her history, inspiring others to use their background and be proud of it (Lindstrom …show more content…
She motivated other people to try and speak out their minds and thoughts, because diversity is what makes a community so special. Her literary career was her main focus in life, and she persisted through hard times, inspiring women around the world not to give up on their dreams no matter the circumstances (Lindstrom 2023). This made a long lasting impact on society because she did things many had not done before. Another piece of evidence that supports this claim is one of the professional types of recognition she received. During the year of 2014, Isabel Allende was chosen by American President Barack Obama as a recipient for the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This award is the highest civilian honor awarded in the United States of America (“Isabel Allende,” 1998). Receiving this award meant that she made exemplary contributions to the prosperity and values of the United States. This proves that she was eminent because the award itself is given to people who have positively affected the U.S, and that makes a long lasting impact. All these pieces of evidence point to the same core thought, which is that Isabel Allende has left a long lasting positive impact on the United States of America. She was a motivational writer and journalist who inspired others to try their best to achieve their

In “The Myth of the Latin women” she should put up with a lot of legends of who she is to be. Due to her being Latina. She stood there and took all the words they had to say. She was made out to be “Maria” from West Side Story, a man was reenacting her. She kept calm while everyone laughed at her.

Maya Angelou has been an influential woman throughout her life; she left her mark in history and literature, and she celebrated the experience of being black in the US. The most breathtaking of all her achievements is the construction of her own personality. As she stated once, “my mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”. Remembering her, it is important to highlight her commitment with equality; it was a fight not only for her own life, for women and for Afro-American people, but also for peace and justice all over the world.
I’ve been called intimidating, an over-achiever, a feminist, etc. When I read this book about Dona Gracia it made me feel slightly better about myself. It made me reminded that a woman can be an overachiever; a woman can be “intimidating” which simply means that they are strong; a woman can fight for their rights and be the boss. I think this whole book was something significant that impressed me and is important. This woman was born into a time where women were not at all equal with men.

When thinking of a historical figure, many imagine a president, king, or general that lead a country to greatness, but never realized some could be the ones who influence the minds of society. Although not thought of as anything, writers and poets hold the key to shaping the society’s mindset without even knowing it. Being a civil rights activist, social activist, and role model for women makes Maya Angelou a historical figure who has made a huge impact in American society and in American history. Born poor and black, she was a childhood victim of rape, shamed into silence. She was a young single mother who had to work at strip clubs for a living.
Maya Angelou philosophy and teachings are timeless. There is a lesson to be learned in her more than 30 published works and her lessons taught as a professor and lecturer. More important she lived what she preached. She had a strong belief in humanity as a whole, in the human spirit and in the African American community. She fought tirelessly to change extinguish racism, prejudice and discrimination during a time when she herself as a black woman experienced its effects.
By showing that she can do that she is setting examples that anyone can do anything they just have to put in the work and never give up not matter what.
