John Wayne Gacy was born on March 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois as the middle child. His mother was a stay-at-home wife while his father was constantly working. When his father wasn’t working, he would drink and become aggressive toward his daughter and wife. As the only male in the household, Gacy would take beatings to defend his mother and sisters. At 7 years old, he was sexually abused by his dad's friend for months. That same year, he molested a girl with his friend during school. By 11 years old, his father beat him so badly that he blacked out and since then he would have fainting spells. Gacy’s teenage years were spent in the hospital due to a burst appendix and his congenital heart defect which prevented him from exercising.

About 4 days after his parole ended, he attempted to sexually assault another boy and the kid told the police. Since the boy didn’t show up to trial, the case was dropped. Gacy assaulted another boy and the kid tried blackmailing him but it backfired on him. For unknown reasons, the Parole board wasn’t aware of these cases and decided to wipe his criminal history. He moves with his mother to another house. His first kill victim was stabbed and was hidden in the house crawl space. Since his first known victim, Gacy goes on to kill a total of 33 young men. He would rape torture and then strangle his victims and would throw bury them in his crawl space. The typical victims he had were young boys and men that were in need of a job, home, or money. He had also started a new “method” in which he would torture rape and then drop them at a nearby park. The last victim that causes him to get caught was 15-year-old Robert Priest. He was lured with a possible job offer and followed Gacy home. Due to the many witnesses, the police were led to Gacy’s home and found a receipt from Priests Job. Gacy was put on surveillance and after a week he fell apart. On December 20th, Gacy got drunk, went to his lawyer, and confessed. In the next two days, he was arrested and police got a full house warrant to search the house. By March of 1980, Gacy was convicted of 33 murders in which he was found guilty.
When people think great westerns they think Rio Bravo, Stage Coach, El Dorado, and True Grit; these films have many things in common, but most importantly they all star John Wayne. John Wayne is more known for his roles in the westerns as a gun slinger or a sheriff, but he had other roles such as a navy captain, a safari hunter, and once as a Davy Crockett. He also played in different genres such as action, comedy, drama, and of course westerns. John Wayne was born Marion Michael Morrison in Winterset, Iowa, on May 26,1907(History). His family moved to Glendale, California in 1913, where he grew up like any other child.
In which he got convicted of of and later released after serving 18 months of his 10 year conviction, due to good behavior. After finding this out his first wife then filed for divorce against Gacy. Then in 1975 Gacy continued with his offenses, after working long hours, then driving around to look for male prostitutes, and as well as runaway male teenagers. Of which he would then hide the bodies in the floorboards of his house, or when he ran out of room in his floorboards he would then throw them in the river down the street. With the stress of the murders the murders, Gacy got careless by offering a teenage boy (15 yrs old, Robert Piest) a better job than what he was working for.
This was primarily because of his ability to manipulate and convince people that he was the “ideal person.” He became the head cook, convincing staff, and eventually the parole board, of his goodness. Within this time in prison, however short, his wife had divorced him, and his father died. The prison did not allow Gacy to attend the funeral. He was released from prison in June of 1970, at age 28, when he returned to his hometown of Chicago.
Gacy would go on to spend the next fourteen years of his life in the Menard Correctional Center in Illinois. While in prison, he made numerous phone calls and interviews with different media sources while attempting to backtrack on what he admitted previously in court in an effort to try to claim his innocence. He ultimately failed and was executed in the Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, Illinois on May 10, 1994
The police went to search Gacy's house and notices a really bad smell coming from a crawl space. They originally thought it was from a damaged sewer pipe, but soon found out that there were 29 bodies buried on his property as well as four more that he dumped in rivers near his house. Gacy was convicted and spent 14 years on Death Row. During that time he made creepy paintings of clowns that sold for thousands of dollars. On May 10, 1994, John Wayne Gacy at 52 years old was executed at the Stateville Penitentiary in Joliet, Illinois.
His father would beat them if they were thought to have misbehaved or didn't live up to his standards. His father also violently abused Gacy's mother in front of the children. Gacy could not play with other kids when he was younger because of a congenital heart disease, which his father saw as yet another failure. During this time, Gacy discovered that he was attracted to guys, and this caused a lot of sexual confusion and frustration. As an adult, Gacy seemed to have lived a normal life but eventually, authorities detained Gacy following some later significant allegations.
He did all this through 1967-1978. But before all of his murders he got arrested for molesting a teenage boy, then paid another teen to beat him up for snitching on him. He killed men that were teens all the way up to early thirties. Gacy murdered his first victim in 1972. In between all the killings John performed as Pogo the clown at numerous local parties, political functions, charitable events, and even children's hospitals.

Gacy's father was an alcoholic, and Gacy struggled with his abusive father and endured conflicts with his own identity. As a teenager, he experienced several traumatic events, including being hit in the head on a swing set, which some speculate may have contributed to his later psychotic behavior. Understanding Gacy's troubled early years is crucial in unraveling the origins of his dark path. As a young boy, Gacy struggled with his own identity and desires. He was overweight and socially awkward, which made him an easy target for bullying at school.

He went missing July 31, 1975 and was 17 years old. Gacy would come to use his usual tactics on this young boy after Johnny and Gacy got into an altercation about back pay that Johnny had earned (Murderpedia.com). It was said that Gacy brought young John to his home and forces him inot sexual favors and tricked him inot handcuffs. He would use the “rope trick” which was to tie up his victims and say it was sexual kink and then be so aggresive that they would die. This is what happened to Johnny however was found underneath Gacys garage unlike the others.
Gacy was stealing for most of his life. Gacy was able to steal but his mother kept finding items that he stole, and he had to return the objects. Gacy stole six small toy trucks and his mother made him return them. He stole money from his job and his mother made him return it to the store even though she knew he was being fired. This was the year Gacy was indicted and convicted on sodomy charges after sexually assaulting two teenage boys. He pleaded guilty to one count of sodomy to a fifteen year old boy, but pleaded not guilty to charges relating to other young men. He was sentenced to ten years in prison at the Anamosa State Penitentiary. Out of the ten years he was supposed to serve he only served 18 months of it. Gacy got out on good behavior.
From all of the hate he was getting from his surroundings peers and family members, Gacy started to change into a human monster from just a regular teenage
When he went to school he kept more to himself over the years due to his heart condition that he was diagnosed with at 16. With his condition he was looked upon by his father as a failure. Time went by and Gacy started to realize that he felt attracted to men. With his new found sexuality and other knowing, he got a lot of encounters for it. Looking at Gacy you would think of him as just your average hard working man.
