Mark Mathabane uses the rhetorical triangle which involves ethos, pathos, and logos. The one he tends to use the most is logos because it appeals to logic. Throughout his writing there is credibility based off of his personal experiences that he endured and turned into a positive. This reversal that Equiano demonstrates in his slave narrative shows that the savagery of African people exists as a misconception and makes the reader fully grasp the need to abolish slavery and any inequality present. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability.
