Thanksgiving Day is a day in which you give thanks to others. Such as; your family, friends, teachers, grandparents, and cousins. On Thanksgiving, I go down south to eat a big feast with my extended family. We do many things together as a family and do a lot of talking to catch up on some things! I recently was granted the opportunity to hear what others do on turkey day and compare them to what happens at my Thanksgiving dinner. Every year for Thanksgiving, I go down to Evansville to spend time with the family I do not see as often. One thing my family does, is watch football. Mostly the guys are on the couch in front of the television watching that aggressive, vicious sport and the woman are in the kitchen, cooking. Back long ago, they
Reading the comic strip “True Tales of the Amerikkkan History Part II: The True Thanksgiving” artist Jim Mahfood, examines different views on ethnicity, specifically the differences between American Indians and Whites, through the views of a naïve and native youngster. Mahfood, utilizes a classic nine panel format with “True Tales of the Amerikkkan History Part II: The True Thanksgiving”, which traces the youths discussion about Thanksgiving. This discussion between the white kid and the Native American kid, shows the vast differences between both youths perception of the traditional American holiday. Mahfood’s portrayal of the white kid, as a self-absorbed follower of society and as direct reflection of his apparently, uncompassionate

Normally all my fathers family members can attend and I get to catch up with my Canadian cousins and brother who lives in Boston. Additionally we enjoy the classic feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and more. Thanksgiving has a lot of importance to my family because I get to spend time with the people I don't see as often and bond with them. I believe that my family can also feel this social importance, which is why nobody ever seems to miss it, and we always leave so late. Between the food, friends, family, and extra long weekend off school,
Thanksgiving is a big deal to Americans,it’s a holiday where you get together with your family and celebrate what you are thankful for. Everyone celebrates Thanksgiving in there own way. Everyone has their own traditions, and foods. My Thanksgiving is very different from others, but it is also similar in some ways.
From what I can remember, football has become a Sunday ritual in my family since I was a kid. Growing up in the Northeast, we lived a couple hours from Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York. Being the playing ground for the New York Jets 1964 to 1983, now the New York Jets play at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Living so close to the stadium and having family members like my Dad, Uncles, and Grandfather take the train or a boat over to watch Joe Namath play was an experience I wish I could have been a part of. Football has become so popular in America, that they have a day dedicated to watching your favorite team play their hardest versus one of the other thirty-one teams in the league.
Every year on the fourth Thursday of November my family celebrates Thanksgiving at my house. We always have my dad’s side of the family comes and celebrates Thanksgiving. It is a fun day surrounded by my family. We Begin, by having my dad’s side of the family come over to my house.
Martha looked at the myth of Thanksgiving. The idea that an entire family would happily get together for a huge meal. The family will think and talk about everything that they are thankful for. This is heavily discussed in elementary schools. As a child I remember my teacher suggesting that at dinner we should go around the table and have each family member say something that they are thankful for.
Every Thanksgiving my family gets together. When we are together, we always take time out to remember my great-grandmother and my grandmother, Meme and Liz. This year my family gathered at my auntie and uncle’s home. My aunt called all the family members that were coming because she needed to tell them what to bring. When we got there, we sat and watched the football game until the food was finished.
Most of you during Thanksgiving day likes to eat more food than before. You know the reason why? It is because Thanksgiving is considered a special day to all of us around the world. This is where families gathered together to celebrate themselves in the presence of the Lord himself. It is completely understood that the main dish in Thanksgiving Day is no other than the turkey.
We celebrate thanksgiving, this is another time people will get together to have a big meal, but it is usually family or real close friends that come to this meal, and it is more formal the the fourth of
Thanksgiving is time to be thankful for what you have been blessed with and to thank others and God. My family’s tradition occurs at lunch time and everyone has to bring something. Grandma Jo prepares the turkey, mash potatoes, home-made gravy, seasoned green beans, and fresh corn. She also prepares homemade biscuits, and fatback, which is my favorite. I love the texture and the taste.
Football is obviously an integral part of our nation’s identity. It’s the one sport that absolutely dominates the weekend, whether it be college football on Saturday, or professional on Sunday. However in some places in this country, the game of football is all that a community has. Award winning journalist and author H.G. Bissinger described in great detail such a community in his 1990 non-fiction book “Friday Night Lights.” Throughout the entirety of the book, we learned about what life was life in Odessa, Texas during the 1980’s.

The leaves begin to change to vibrant shades of reds, oranges and yellows, slowly falling down onto the dry, cracked ground. As I walk up the driveway to my grandparents house I hear the crunch of the leaves under my shoes, just as I go to open the door I hear something quickly scurry away from behind me. I catch a glimpse of a tiny chipmunk running away with an acorn, he must be hurrying home to his family for dinner just as I. Before I step inside I take a second; I look around and everything seems so simple. Everyday life is so chaotic, but Thanksgiving is that time once a year where you can just relax. It’s a time full of happiness and laughter, a designated day to give thanks, to sit down and truly realize how lucky you are.
Everybody knows that there are four seasons, and everyone has their favorite one out of all of them. Mine is when the woods turns into a coloring book of orange and red, when I put a nice warm batch of hot co-co on the stove, and were all of my family comes together every year. My favorite season is fall. My favorite hobby is hunting.
