Evidently everything that took place at Willowbrook was extremely unethical all around. All ten of the principles in the ATRA code of ethics were violated. Willowbrook is a perfect example of how ethics change over time. Even though today you hear stories about abuse and neglect that takes place in nursing homes this type of treatment and this amount of widespread neglect would never happen today. Today there are strict protocols and guidelines in every facility that as a professional you are required to follow.
Introduction In all healthcare, ethics have always played an important role and because of the role ethics has in healthcare, an organizations code of ethics is always under the microscope. An organization who is now under high scrutiny in the media is the Veteran Administration (VA). The Veterans Administration was created to take care of the American Military man/woman after the individual has honorably completed their service. With the recent events of the popular VA Scandal the VA code of ethics has been compromised.
When taking an oath to be a pharmacist, an EMT, or a physician, one takes an oath to serve humanity. Although there is no common law, each individual profession’s code of ethics has a similar purpose, which is to act as a guideline on the professional relationships between colleagues, patients, and others served. The code of ethics is a standard for all individuals in the profession, however there are instances where a person’s individual beliefs may be of conflict, and prevent the adherence of such guidelines. Although the rights of these individuals may be protected under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), there is a responsibility as a medical professional to assist the patients, whether it be directly or indirectly. NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment (Appendix A) The administrators role in implementing Section I: Ethical Responsibilities to Children, is by ensuring that each child is in a safe and healthy environment, where each child’s needs are met. An ideal important from this section is 1-1.9, which states that each child whether disabled or not, has the same support services to succeed. This is important in the field of early childhood education, because each child has the right to learn, and succeed. It is a law that no child is left behind, and can receive the appropriate tools necessary to reach their full potential, whether disabled or not.

It has been established and helping many people for many years. The American Red Cross is the crisis responder when there is a natural disaster such as a flood, tornado, wildfire, and even the small house fire. The American Red Cross is there to assist the people who have just experienced such a traumatic moment in their lives and help them to get back on their feet.
The North Carolina State Board of Education outlines the professional standards to which teaches should uphold within, and even outside of, the classroom. These standards are comprised of the commitment to the student, commitment to the school, and commitment to the profession. Also, the Code of Ethics includes the professional conduct which entails, honesty, the acknowledgement of the rights of others, keeping information confidential, and compliance of criminal laws (NC State Board of Education, 1998). Ultimately, the NC Code of Ethics is a set of rules in which teachers must uphold during their career. Discussion Commitment to the Student
This article on ethics was really interesting and a dilemma that is prevalent within criminal justice. In the article Dr. Steven Davis recognized that students cheating in high school increased by 20% in the 1940 to 75% today. Davis stated, "If students lack ethics in high school and college, then there should be little surprise that they lack ethics in their careers. (2008). " This observation by Davis holds some value, because individuals that is willing to cheat to get ahead, definitely has no problem crossing ethical lines, because in their mind the wrong is acceptable, just as it was when they cheated.
The seven core values of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct are different kind of commitments that we have to follow in order to be in a field of any early childhood care and education. The seven values are: Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle. , Base our work on knowledge of how children develop and learn. , Appreciate and support the bond between the child and family, recognize that children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community and society. , Respect the dignity, work and uniqueness of each individual., Respect diversity in children, families ,and colleagues., And finally, Recognize that children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that are based on trust and respect.
Profession Code of Ethics Comparison As a social work student, we are provided with the foundational education necessary to succeed in our profession. The National Association of Social Work (NASW) Code of Ethics is the most significant publication because it “is intended to serve as a guide to the everyday professional conduct of social workers” (NASW Code of Ethics, 2017). For this assignment, we are charged with exploring other professional codes of ethics to gain a better understanding of how they may be similar or differ from one another. Therefore, I choose to explore the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics with the intention of conducting a comparison analysis of both documents.
Planning is transforming socially, but to achieve change it has to bring together, politicians, planners, and residents (Sandercock, 2004). Citizen’s opinions and rights should be taken into consideration. It is the number one rule in the planning process for participants. It says, “recognize the rights of citizens to participate in planning decisions” (Ethical, n.d.). Cities cannot progress unless they change their ways of doing things.
I am going to be doing a comparison on multiple relationships under the Ethics Codes for Psychologist section 3.05, and The Association for Addiction Professionals section l-11. They both seem to be pretty consistent with each other with a few minor differences. In the NAADAC l-11 it states that “addiction professionals shall make every effort to avoid multiple relationships with a client” (NAADAC: The Association for Addiction Professionals NCC AP: The National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals CODE OF ETHICS: Approved 10.09.2016).
When reading the IAMFC Code of Ethics and AAMFT Code of Ethics I found that they compare significantly, much more than they contrast. Many of the principals coincide. For example, the topic of multiple relationships is one of the many principles that parallel in many codes of ethics. The IAMFC Code of Ethics encourages family counselors to “avoid whenever possible multiple relationships, such as business, social, or sexual contacts with any current clients or family members” (Section A). Similarly, the AAMFT Code of Ethics also requires that therapists “make every effort to avoid conditions and multiple relationships with clients that could impair professional judgment or increase the risk of exploitation.
Counselors must be aware of their ethical and legal obligations when providing counseling services, such as those related to crisis prevention and intervention. This knowledge can guide the counselor in making appropriate decisions to best assist the client. The American Counseling Association Code of Ethics (2014) provides counselors with the core principles of autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice and fidelity to guide them in decisions making. Furthermore, the following ACA (2014) ethical codes are applicable to crisis counseling: A.1.a. Primary responsibility.
There are various theories in ethics, which are helpful to build the appropriate fundamental principles and applicable to professional and personal demeanor of a person in his life on a daily basis. There are mainly four theories which are crucial for right action and ethical behavior. These are: 1. “Golden means” ethics (Aristotle, 384 – 322 B.C.). According to this theory, the best solution is achieved through reason and logic and is a compromise or “golden mean” between extremes of excess and deficiency.
