In this nonprofit organization, we volunteer at different events around the Greater Kansas City area. I gained more than 15 hours of service work. We organized school dances, pep rallies, and took part in Global Youth Service Day. We attend seminars during the school year to learn more about business etiquette and career development. We support the basketball and football teams by attending their games and selling school products to fundraise. We fundraise for 'Grad Night' and our senior class gift. We also decide and organize our senior graduation The Gateway Highs Steppers is a drill team. I was able to dance in the 'Circle City Classics' parade in Indiana. I help set up the equipment and give water to the players on the field. I restocked
In 2007, I, along with a few of my peers, founded the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild as a way to give back to our community. Since then, this nonprofit organization has raised thousands of dollars that has gone to support uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I have been very involved with this group. When I had the opportunity to choose a service placement for this year, I immediately knew I would be doing my service through the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild because of my previous involvement with the guild and my passion for the cause the guild supports.
For the past two years, I have been involved in the Carmax Cares community service month. We provided assistance to the Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell, Georgia. This organization sends out gently worn closes, shoes and other necessities to support foster care providers in the state of Georgia. We packaged items to be sent out and organized their warehouse inventory. On campus I am an active member of SABAC as well as the Georgia Club.
The organization, which I decided to volunteer two hours of my day to, was Cumac. Cumac is located in Paterson, New Jersey and they work to serve the people in the counties of Passaic, Paterson, and Northern New Jersey. They work with a staff of 21 and volunteers from all over to help people in need with food and supplies they would need to survive. Their mission statement is: “CUMAC feeds people and changes lives. It works to alleviate hunger and its root causes for those in need in Paterson, Passaic County, and northern New Jersey.”

We helped organize the parking lots when the LPGA was in town. We visit the elementary schools in the area to be positive role models for the children. As a group of teenage boys, our team has an atmosphere that is very joking and fun; not leaving much room for serious talks if a teammate is going through a tough time. To make up for
Morgan State University’s Student Regent has the power to implement powerful initiatives that uphold the university’s core values and prepares graduates to become the next world leaders. Therefore, it is imperative that the Student Regent familiarizes themselves with the goals of the university and has a strategy to create positive changes. The mission of Student Regent is to serve as the student liaison between the Board of Regents, the Student Government Association, and the student body. She explained that she was on her way to the bank to get a loan for her son 's communication device when she got a call from the HIKE foundation. It was extremely rewarding to be able to help someone in that way. Besides my love of community service, I have gained so much confidence in myself from my friends that I have met through Job 's Daughters. Ther are many opportunities to compete in public speaking, talent and pageant competitions. The first big competition I entered was the Junior Miss Oklahoma pageant when I was fifteen.
While attending Avon High School I was very active in participating in many different clubs offered. I spent much of my time being a member of Business Professionals of America. I held different offices one being Vice President. While involved I competed at the state level for three years in varying events. I also was recognized for my level of volunteer work in my community at the national level.
The topic of where universities get their massive reserve funds needs some thought. Some of the money made could be directly attributable to the athletes themselves. Products of this type include tickets to games and even t-shirts worn by student-athletes that are put up for sale. In addition, many former students return to their alma mater to attend athletic contests where their former teammates participate. This is in line with the argument I made in my thesis, which is that the popularity of college sports draws in new financial support for universities thanks to student-athletes' influence.
We planned events, raised money for charities, completed innumerable community service hours, and built a respect for our organization in the
I have had the honor of dedicating much of my time and devotion to the many volunteer opportunities in a variety of venues. Working for the local soup kitchen as a cook and server for 3 years, can definitely humble a person. Setting up and assisting in the churches, Festivals and fundraisers as well as their school nursery program. Working in the capacity of repairing and cleaning forest trails in Central New York State Parks and Warren Island, Maine. Of course, my time spent being a Boy Scout for several years, only just touched on the experience I would later bear.
In the first year, I was a part of a pioneering youth development team in Americorps NCCC Southwest Region. I worked with K-12 students in title one schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, local non-profit organizations, The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. I spent my second year working with underserved youth as a volunteer coordinator for Reading Partners in DC. I learned about the struggles that the students I worked with dealt with every day. I was also able to interact with parents and provide resources for education, housing, food, and nutrition.
An extracurricular activity I have the honor of being a part of is Upward Bound. A TRIO organization that prepared me for college and opened up many doors for me. I am grateful to be a part of Upward Bound because it has offered me resources like tutors, having sessions to review for ACT tests, and the opportunity to build community with my fellow students. Additionally, I have received help researching scholarships, researching colleges that are the best fit for me and visiting colleges as well as support and aid regarding my applications. Upward Bound has been a fantastic experience that I have had the honor to be a part of.
Over the course of 9th and 10th grade, I volunteered on occasion at the San Francisco Food Bank. I did not volunteer on a consistent schedule, but the experience was valuable nonetheless, as I knew my work
