Kirke Kirke, the goddess that inhabits Aiaia, posed yet another obstacle in Odysseus’ journey back home to Ithaka. After landing on Aiaia, Odysseus sent a group of his men to explore the isle. The men soon came across a house surrounded by docile animals, they came across the goddess, Kirke, who lured all but Eurýmakhos into her house and turns the men into pigs. When Odysseus learned of how his men were tricked, he set off alone in order to save them from the goddess’ spell. With the help of Hermes, who supplied him with the molu in order to protect him from Kirke’s spell, he was able to catch the goddess off guard, and was able to make her turn his men back into human form after taking the goddess to bed and making her swear to do no more

No matter what you're trying to do, everything in this crazy thing we call life will come with challenges, and obstacles along the way. You can never achieve anything if you give up the first time something knocks you down.
Hephaestus was a Greek god until he was kicked out for being ugly. When they kicked him out of the sky he landed on an island that was very mysterious. It was as stranded as an ant in a black cave. When Hephaestus first fell onto the island he had no clue what was coming. He thought that sues felt bad for kicking him out and gave him a nice island, but this was NO nice island.
Throughout Odysseus’ journey home to Ithaca, he faced many obstacles along the way which shaped him into the person he became. As well as Gabby Douglas who made countless amounts of sacrifices and went through exceedingly troublesome times to become the person she is today. Both of their journeys include a road of trials, transformation, and treasure. Just as Odysseus defeated Troy in the Trojan war and went through hard times during his journey home to Ithaca, Gabby Douglas as well faced a road of trials and similar encounters. Gabby’s road of trials occurred on July 31, 2012.
As the door gradually turned open, the audience fell silent, waiting with their held breaths to visually perceive what would transpire to the one within the king’s arena. Once the door was open, a ferocious tiger leapt out of the area from abaft the door. Then, the man was gradually ripped asunder for all to witness. The audience screamed out with disrelish and disappointment at how the man’s life ended. During the horrifying event the king laughed maniacally at the riddance of the man.

The Anasazi were an Indian Tribe, whose disappearance still remains to be a mystery today. They were a civilization built in as early as 1500 B.C… occupying what is known as the four corners (Roberts, David 2003). After building their cliff side pueblos, it is said the Anasazi abandoned their homes and belongings in Mesa Verde and left in a hurry. Based on the Navajo language, the word Anasazi translates as “ancient enemy” (“10 facts about Anasazi” 2015). They are thought to be the ancestor of the modern pueblo Indians.
In The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus has dealt with many obstacles set forth by the gods and goddesses, in order to overcome his flaw of hubris and become a better person. Now, twenty years after the Trojan war, Odysseus returns to his home in Ithaca and finds that his beloved dog, Argus, once strong and brave is now old, weak, and treated like garbage; his son has grown up without him; and that his wife, Penelope, is sought after for marriage by men whom have vitiated his home and belongings. This infuriates Odysseus and forces him to face the karma and consequences of his hubris of his younger self. After Odysseus meets his son, Telemachus, for the first time, Odysseus must now take back his rightful place, but he must do so as a beggar, which is sad and humiliating for his son to watch: “ ‘If they make fun of me in my own courtyard, let your ribs cage up your springing heart, no matter what I suffer, no matter if they pull me by the heels or practice shots at me, to drive me out. Look on, hold down your anger.
In book 12 of The Odyssey, Odysseus and his remaining men encountered many problems that drastically changed the process of returning home. After the proper burial of Eplenor, Circe gives Odysseus advice to handle the dangers on the way home. Odysseus led his men to the island of Thrinacia, which contains the cattle of the sun. In this episode, Odysseus’s loyalty, bravery, compassion, and faith to return home with his men is shown, despite the many obstacles faced along the way. Odysseus faced many challenges in this episode that hardened and delayed his homecoming.
Every character in stories or in plays has their flaws and strengths; Oedipus is no exception to this. Oedipus has his strengths and weaknesses that shape him into the character he is perceived to be in the play. He is intellectual which is why the city looks up to him, he is caring, and tenacious. Like any other character Oedipus also has his flaws, he jumps to conclusions and makes rash decisions, he has anger issues, and hubris which eventually leads to his downfall. Intelligence is something that is highly respected in individuals, especially in leaders.
Oedipus is defined as Latinized form of the Greek Οιδιπους (Oidipous), meaning "swollen foot" from (oideo) "to swell" and πους (pous) "foot". In Greek legend Oedipus was the son of Laius and Jocasta. He unwittingly slew his father and married his mother. Oedipus was a great king but the Sphinx riddle was a perfect analogy of Oedipus’s life and this is evident through the plot events. Firstly there is three parts of the sphinx riddle, and the first part of the riddle was “What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning…” this riddle was first mentioned in the story when Oedipus wanted to pass through the gates of Thebsis but was stopped by the sphinx.
Oedipus Rex Henry Rollins once stated, “Weakness is what brings ignorance, cruelty, and pride, all these things that will keep a society chained to the ground, one foot nailed to the floor.” In Sophocles play Oedipus Rex, Oedipus, the king of Thebes, weakness is his fate. Throughout the play, Oedipus is trying to outrun his fate because he feels the gods are subordinate to his powerful figure. Oedipus is seen as a god throughout Thebes because he defeated the mighty Sphinx, who was once haunting over the city. After defeating the Sphinx, Oedipus took over as king by killing his father and coupling his mother as his hubris blinded him from reality.
