Abstract Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) is a by-product from palm kernel oil processing production and provides moderate nutrition with approximately 14-18% of crude protein (CP) and 13-15% crude fiber (CF). Usage of PKC is common in ruminant diets as protein source. However, it is limited in the monogastric animal diets because PKC contains mannan, non-starch polysaccharide (NSP). In feed industry, mannanase was mixed in animal feeds to digest NPS and improve nutrient utilization. This study investigated the parameter optimization of enzymatic hydrolysis to improve the quality of substrates from PKC with multi-response criteria based on the Taguchi orthogonal array. Nine experimental runs based on an L9 orthogonal array of Taguchi method were performed. …show more content…
In 2016, Thailand has been reported that approximately 10,944,000 tons of palm oil are produced by the Thai palm oil millers annually (OAE, 2017). PKC is one of the most abundant byproducts of expeller processing. Palm kernel cake yield about 6.7% of palm oil into the palm oil extraction process. The solids remaining after the expeller processing are called PKC or palm kernel expeller (PKE). Due to the sustainable growth of palm oil in the world market, the amount of PKC produced is increasing annually. Therefore, the full utilization of PKC as a source of valuable ingredients represents a significant economic and social …show more content…
Most mannan in PKC consist of a (1-4)-linked β-mannose backbone, but small amount of mannan with (1-6)-linked α-galactose (galactomannan) are also present. However, the galactose substitution is low (12-20%) (Düsterhöft et al., 2006). Consequently, an inclusion of 2-4% β-mannan slows growth and reduces feed efficiency to 20-30%. The addition of enzyme in feed ingredients to digest β-mannan that found it can improve animal performance through improvements in feed intake, weight gain and feed efficiency. The enzymes widely used by the industry are hemicellulase that cleave the non-starch polysaccharide in viscous cereals (Ravindran and Son,
Many people want to believe old age will kill them, but more than likely, the killer will come from what they put into their bodies. Every day, people are faced with affecting their own health. To do so, one must be conscious of what their temple receives; this means people must watch what they eat. People must look at the ingredients contained in everyday foods, what those ingredients cause to happen in the body, and the effects the ingredients have on the body, like the ingredient high fructose corn syrup. The amounts of overconsumed and unhealthy contents of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) need to be replaced by natural sugars.
The Harlem Renaissance. These three words changed African-American history forever. One of the greatest accomplishments of the Harlem Renaissance was the sense of hope and opportunity it offered the black community. Despite this great progressive movement, racism, colorism and traditional gender roles were still a great influence in the urban affairs of the Harlem Renaissance. Through facing their many adversities, they expressed their troubles through different forms of art.
Holiday Sugar Cookies These cookies are delicate in flavour yet sturdy enough to decorate. We used these cookies to decorate our Christmas tree when I was a child. If you want to hang them on the Christmas tree, use a wooden skewer to make a small hole at the top of the cookie before baking. 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature 3 tablespoons whole milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 large egg
High level of dependency on the raw material increases vulnerability against availability and price fluctuations. OPPORTUNITIES: 1. Increasing mergers and acquisitions and strategic partnerships to create larger companies for engaging R&D and building market power through increased economy of scale and access to new market. 2.
Key Lime Fudge Ingredients - 1 2/3 cups sugar - 5-ounces 2% or whole evaporated milk - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 12 large marshmallows - 2 cups white chocolate chips - 1/4 cup grated lime zest - 2 tablespoons key lime juice Instructions 1. Line an 8" x 8" pan with lightly greased foil. Set aside. 2.
Both enzymes denatured at 85°C base on the black/blue liquid color in the spot plate, meaning that the temperature was above the temperature needed to function properly. At 0°C, the bacterial enzyme had the highest enzymatic activity, disproving the hypothesis. However, the fungal amylase had low enzymatic activity, it had the second darkest liquid color in the spot plate. At 25°C, both enzymes had the third darkest color, showing some starch breakage and enzyme activity. At 55°C, the bacterial amylase had the second highest enzyme activity, with the exception of the 0 minute mark, which just contains starch mix with iodine.
Vanilla Beaned is the eight book in the A Cupcake Bakery Mystery series. Angie, Mel and Tate are on their way o Las Vegas to sign papers with Holly Hartzmark, lead dancer at a casino, for the first franchise of Fairy Tale Cupcakes. As they are meeting with Holly, Mel still has her doubts about letting her purchase the francise. As they are looking at the outside of the possible location, the relator opens the door and there is a loud explosion. It 's soon learned that the gas to an oven had been on.

In the Dr. Oz video, Dr. Oz is promoting red palm fruit oil. Through demonstrations, Dr. Oz claimed two effects of consuming red palm fruit oil: to clean artery plaque and help burn belly fat. According to Dr. Oz, red palm fruit oil is essential to keep blood vessel in the heart open. Dr. Oz and his assistant claimed that although red palm fruit oil is saturated fat, it is different from the “bad” saturated fat such as butter. Dr. Oz had two models of artery for demonstration.
White Chocolate Bread Pudding White Chocolate Bread Pudding is a great comfort food after a scrumptious Louisiana meal. This dessert can be cooked and eaten warm or stored in the refrigerator to be reheated at a later time. This White Chocolate Bread pudding is easy to make and anyone can learn to make it, including you. Gathering up the ingredients will make the preparation process easier.
On special occasions, you can find Guatemalans celebrating by eating a delicious dessert called Tres Leches Cake. Tres Leches Cake translates to “three milks cake” in English and is named after the main ingredients: three different types of milk. To make this dessert, you prepare a sponge cake using the usual flour, sugar, eggs, (etc.) and bake it in the oven. After it’s baked and cooled, you poke small holes into the cake and pour on top the mixture containing the evaporated milk, condensed milk, and whipped cream (the three milks). Once the cake has absorbed the milk mixture, spread on top some whipped cream and serve it.
Enzymes speed up chemical reactions enabling more products to be formed within a shorter span of time. Enzymes are fragile and easily disrupted by heat or other mild treatment. Studying the effect of temperature and substrate concentration on enzyme concentration allows better understanding of optimum conditions which enzymes can function. An example of an enzyme catalyzed reaction is enzymatic hydrolysis of an artificial substrate, o-Nitrophenylgalactoside (ONPG) used in place of lactose. Upon hydrolysis by B-galactosidase, a yellow colored compound o-Nitrophenol (ONP) is formed.
In order to utilize casein, bacteria cells secrete proteolytic exoenzymes (amylases, proteases, pectinases, lipases, xylanases and cellulases) outside of the cell that hydrolyze the protein to amino acids. The amino acids can then be used by cells after crossing the cell membrane via transport proteins [169]. Starch hydrolysis test is used to differentiate bacteria based on their ability to hydrolyze starch with the enzyme α-amylase or oligo-l, 6-glucosidase. These enzymes hydrolyze starch by breaking the glycosidic linkages between the sugar subunits. It aids in the differentiation of species from the genera Corynebacterium, Clostridium, Bacillus, Bacteroides, Fusobacterium and members of Enterococcus [170].
