There is a moment where you have to step out from your comfort zone. Throughout my high school, I have encountered a number of opportunities to be a leader. I have shown my leadership through participating in math team, becoming a class senate, and also being part of a family. Being a member in math team gave me an opportunity to learn both winning and losing and how to overcome with it. My math team teacher used to say “you learn from losing than winning. You learn how to keep going” This quote has inspired me to look at things with different perspectives. This quote was my paramount strut which motivated me to step forward as a leader. As a member of class senate, I helped a certain group of disabled people who needed special needs. With
Being a leader has definitely put me between a rock and hard place multiple times. I have had multiple leadership positions such as Captain of the Academic Team, member of Student Council, Officer of Spanish Club, and a Class Officer every year for the three previous years. Being Captain of the Academic Team is a rigorous and challenging position. After the loss of a game generally the
Although I do not have a position in leadership yet, I believe that leadership does not only apply to large-scale events, but group work and responsibility in oneself's own actions as well. To me, leadership does not mean that someone can boss the entire group around, but to create a positive relationship with peers. Being able to build trust among your associates is the fundamental base of a relationship with the people that will be part of your life, which is also an essential part of leadership. I decided to join STEM, which allowed me to understand my potential with leadership. During group projects, we would make decisions together as a group, instead of separate individuals arguing over what to do.
Acquiring leadership skills along with a strong character and the sense to serve others is vital. A leader should be resourceful, dependable, selfless, and a good problem solver. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
There is no doubt in my mind that I am not a leader. To help others and to show them right choices is one of my greatest qualities. One of the questions I asked myself when deciding to try out was, ‘Can other students learn and look up to you?’ The answer was yes, other students can look to me for guidance and friendship. Another of my
Leadership is one of the most important traits to have, not only in school, but community too. In school I take up the leadership role by helping my classmates and answering their questions about a topic in class. I am a Senior High Student Council member; I have been an active member since my freshman year. I have helped plan and participate in events put on by the council to ensure things run smoothly. Last year as a freshman, I was chosen to attend a leadership conference at St. Cloud State University and We Day at the Xcel Energy Center.
Within the school system I have been in leadership positions for longer than I can remember. First in my extracurricular activities, I have been a varsity soccer captain for all four years, and a dance captain in show choir for two years. Through these roles I was able to lead by example, always displaying hard work and a positive attitude. In this way I was able to encourage my teammates to perform to the best of their abilities, whatever that may be, at all times. Under my and my peers' leadership, the soccer team went from winning one game in the past six years to having three consecutive seasons winning over half of the games and show choir has won four grand champions in the small school division.
In 2008 I was living a fairy tale. I relocated from Indiana to Georgia. Within a year I had 5 credit cards and new home and car. I got engaged to my middle school sweetheart. We purchased our first house which my father prepared my for ever since I was 18 years old.
As far as childhoods go, I can reasonably say that mine was atypical. At the time, my childhood was like a fantasy shrouded in sunlight, grass stains, and an indescribable warmth that can only be called love. However, looking back with what I know now, I realize it was so much better and so much worse than that. An important part of who I am comes from the fact that I live on top of a hill without another house for two miles in any direction. That meant my five siblings
Out of all the seasons, I believe that Winter is the best, and after this argument you will believe that too. First off, in Winter, I get to go sledding with my friends Jasmine and Ember, or Jazzy and Dismember. We swerve and slide, jump and crash around the trees on Jazz's grandparents' forest. Snow would run down our backs, undergarments, socks, and face as we giggle and shiver in the cold wetness of it all. During Winter I just get to enjoy solitude, gore, scary movies, and snow.
You are 10 years old. It is 10:00 at night. You hear noises in your kitchen, then someone walks into your room. They put a bag over your head and take you to a house. They take the bag off and you see other children.
“There is no need for you to be so stressed, just relax,” my parents told me. I’ve heard those words so many times it has become an echo. Their body language shows indifference in the way they brush it off as no big deal and how their body position stays the same. They don’t lean in attentively or reach their hand out to comfort me. I can’t be stressed, but I’m expected to reach the high standards my parents hold for me.
A year that was meant for chilling and just going to school turned into a challenging life. Doing multiple of things at a pace felt like having eight arms. This year I experience like a 6 year old is being given algebra problems to solve. This year I have learned that once in your life you're going to be responsible and face difficulties that you have to step up to.
There I was having fun snowboarding last season in Breckinridge Colorado over October break. I was riding the park and exploring the mountain “This is so fun “I said excitedly. The mountain was very big and crowded. There were a lot of people in the park. I had not fallen all day and then… What happened was I hit a jump and it had a really bad landing and it
I have changed in many ways, such as. My make up its different now I wear eyeliner on the top, my attitude changed too. Now I actually care about my future. Because I realized that life is important. I have the same friends although one of my friends moved to another city, two of my other friends are at step.
I have a shelf in the corner of my room that houses more memorabilia. There is six trophies for piano concerts that I performed at in high school. Piano was a huge part of my childhood. I started playing when I was six years old, mainly because my sister took lessons and I was jealous and wanted to be just like my big sister, until I was 17 years old.
