This story takes place last summer in the month of July, about one week. My family and I went on a trip out west. Our final destination was in South Dakota. We left on a monday morning and I remember my mom was trying to get me up and they almost left without me. Everyone packed their bags in the car but when I was about to put mine in the car I was informed that there was no more room and it had to get tied to the roof. My dad eventually tied it down and off we went. After being in the car for over three hours my little cousin Maddie had to use the bathroom and I was really hungry.
“ Watch Out!”, my pa yelled as a tree fell down. That is how most of my family’s trip was in 1855 when we traveled from Pennsylvania to Illinois for free land. Hi i’m Bill. I have one brother a mom and a dad. My mom has blond hair, short, and brown eyes. My dad has black short hair, tall, and green eyes. My brother Will has green eyes, short, and ginger hair. Our trip to Illinois was tough. Believe me!
There are many great things about my state, Alabama. Today, I will name my 3 favorite things I love about my home. My first favorite thing about the state of Alabama would be our coastal shores of Mobile. I love the warm sand against my feet as the breeze waves through my hair. I love the sound of children screaming and laughing as they play, the seagulls flapping and screeching, and the waves crashing against the shore. I love waking up early to the gorgeous sun rise, the golden rays reflecting off the water. I love the feel of my line in the water, the slight tug at my line as i get a bite. I love the fight of the fish as I struggle to reel it in. I love the feel of the scaly, slimy fish. Even if i lose the fish, I love that it is the one that got away and the thought that I may get it again.
Visiting to a state that I have always wanted to go is to visit Colorado with my family; therefore, it was fun while going to that place. This happened last years’ summer. There are a few things that we did in that state. So before we went to Colorado, we had to drive from one state to another. Like we first drove from Illinois, our state, to Iowa. We had to stop in Iowa for many reasons. Our family had to stop to using bathrooms, we also stop and to get gas because we drove on the highway, and sometimes we do have to stop and get some food and drinks because we’re always hungry and thirsty; and after we do those stuffs, it’s time to get back onto the highway.
Moving to Kansas was a big change in my life. At the end of the school year of 2011, four weeks before the last day of school we went on the eight hour road trip to Newton, Kansas. It was exciting. Getting a new place to live, a new home. Change is good, well mostly good. In Colorado we had a nice old house with a big backyard, and a huge hill to go sledding on in the winter. Life was good. Our school was a Charter school which I didn’t like because we had to wear uniforms. Our school was just down the hill and it took less than five minutes to get there because of traffic, there was a intersection right at the bottom of the hill. Which is just about the worst place to put an intersection.
Getting down to Nebraska was harsh and the trail was dusty. The children like me had to take care of the animals. Jim, Antonia and myself became really good friends after living next door to each other for a while and we do everything together. When I work, I help my dad to plant and harvest crops and hunt for food. We planted and harvested corn, potatoes, pumpkin, wheat, peas, carrots and tomatoes. In the years I lived in Nebraska, people died sooner because all of us didn't have the certain type of medicine to keep people alive longer. When I went out with friends, we would take turns on who took the wagon out and if it was my turn and the wagon broke down I would have to fix it myself. We have both rich families and poor families in my town. I have a friend that
Several individuals from different ethnicities, races, and citizenships, compose a society. The United Sates allow us to have a close interaction with numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my own case I have been able to interact with many incredible individuals from all over the world who come from extremely different backgrounds. I am a proud Mexican who cherishes respect towards diversity. Coming from a very suffered country I am able to understand not only what does it means to feel proud to be a Latino, but also I can feel acquainted with the pain and struggle that our community has to face every day.
I had no idea about what I was going to find in Little Rock. First of all, I have been enjoying my groups company, I feel that we’re more close and united after that trip. Therefore, I liked a lot traveling there with them and I also adored the highway. It’s wonderful to admire nature while you are on the road, it reminded me some speedways in Mexico.
O-Oklahoma Oklahoma is the place I was born yet the only time I was ever there was maybe the first two to three months of my life I don’t remember obviously. I’ve always wondered what it’s like there. One day I hope to go there because I fell in love with a lot of their sports teams and I want to meet my biological brother. My favorite sports teams in Oklahoma are the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, and the colleges of Oklahoma State (The Cowboys), Oklahoma (The Sooners), and Tulsa (The Golden Hurricanes). I started paying attention to the NBA when my brother Scott bought NBA 2k11 I played with every team and found myself playing with the Thunder the most, because I loved playing with Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook.
My home state is Texas, and a problem Texas faces is an overall mindset of systemic racism, sexism, and xenophobia. Texas is a very conservative state, thus many of the policies passed by our legislation are written at the expense of women and minorities. Although I might sound highly critical of our state government, I do not believe that these negative mindsets are deliberate attempts to put others down, I feel that it is simply an ignorance to the issues women and minorities face, and a lack of empathy. Ignorance is easily countered by thorough education. The easiest way to solve this is for us constituents of these politicians, to bring the issues that affect us to the forefront. If more minorities would get involved in our political system,
Growing up in Texas What is it like growing up in Texas? I have people always state that their home state is the best place to grow up, but I can honestly say where I grew up was the best. We had some much to do and so much to see.
Growing up in a small, middle class town in the midwest left little cultural diversity surrounding me as a young child. Me and all of my friends seemed to be cut from the same material. For the most part, we all had two loving, caring parents, we often times did not struggle for items necessary to live, and we often times were never introduced to people much different than us. It can be quite easy to say the midwest is the worst place to raise an open minded child; that being said, I believe my first two hours in Germany opened my eyes more than anything else I have gone through in my entire life.
I worked for goodwill. They contract out to other businesses to help disabled, special needs an felons. Sometimes it is hard for certain people in life to get jobs. It is called Rock-Tenn, they recycle trash. They ran the trash down a conveyor belt. Sometimes it felt like the line was going 80 miles an hour. I had too get four different items: #1 plastic jugs, mainly hard plastic items. There was a bend in front of me an that is where the plastic went. #2 Is paper I had a bend on the right side of me for it. #3 card board the bend for that was behind me. #4 was trash I had two trash cans on the left side of me. I would have too get big pieces of metal, alumina , an sometimes pieces of a car would come through. I believe I most enjoyed it because
It’s about six hours since you left for Arizona . The way things have been, I know you wouldn’t have expected me to come to see you off. I was so focused on getting by on my own in the city, I didn’t realize how much I missed being with friends. And it was only today I realized how much I’ve missed you.You were my best friend for as long as I can remember, and it’s been almost two weeks since I last talked to you. I probably could have if I’d put in the effort. Alex was at the same school, just a grade higher, and by the end of the first month he was so busy exploring the streets with his classmates we hardly saw him at home. But sticking to myself was easier. And by the time I got to the even bigger middle school, the thought of doing anything
I grew up in a city called Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Population was approximately 200,000 which is considered the largest city in South Dakota. It was relatively small for me, because I do consider myself a city girl. Growing up in Sioux Falls was rough, the four season weather was always bipolar and you never knew what to expect from it. The city itself is urban, with many tall buildings downtown. The environment in South Dakota is very important because of the crops and other resources that it has to offer to the nation. Our land is very valuable to keep the crops flowing through the United States, also the roads were very important to my daily life. The roads were luckily updated all the time which made my commute to school that was on
