Deciding to attend Texas A&M University was both a hardship and immense, opportunity in my life. Coming from a close knit background, and possessing a very family oriented character, my decision to come to this incredible institution was one out of my comfort zone. If I was to be asked one year ago, If I could ever see myself standing on this marvelous campus, attending one of the top schools in the nation, I would have honestly responded, no. My counselors would have said no, my friends, my college advisor, my family. The answer would not have been yes, not because I wasn 't capable of meeting the standards to attend, but because there seemed more obstacles in my way than there was forces pushing me forward. Finances were never on our side,
My Trip to Florida It was a cold winter night in Upstate New York. My mom and dad were enjoying a cup of coffee, my sisters were playing video games, and I was editing a few pictures on my computer. My mom brought up the idea of a vacation. She said” We haven’t been on a vacation for a long time”.
Upon arriving to Miami Dade College, you will never imagine all the resources offered to students to succeed during their scholastic years. I’ve been lucky enough to been advised by some of the best staff at their Interamerican campus. From their advisement office to their profoundly knowledgeable professors. As a current student of ENC1102, we were required to attend one section with a tutor at the writing center. I always thought I had sufficient knowledge of the English language and taking time out of my busy schedule to attend a section with a tutor was absurd. However, and luckily to my surprise I was very happy I attended. I’ve always had issues when using words such as you’re or your, when to use commas, and I would admit it I would
During my first year at Florida State University my goal is to broaden my perspectives and become open to new ideas and thinking that differs from mine. I plan to push the boundaries of my comfort zone by participating and becoming involved in activities that I normally wouldn 't. My hope is that by l challenging myself I will benefit by being an improved problem solver and an exceptional communicator that will benefit me in my future.
When I was was younger, I was a caterpillar crawling around trying to get through life, waiting to turn into the beautiful butterfly I know I could soon become. I made good decisions along with bad ones, saw the beauty in life as well as the unpleasant. I was like everyone else trying to be their own person, but now as I look at myself in the mirror I can finally see who I really am. I see myself as the beautiful butterfly I once dreamed of becoming, ready to fly down my own path. I have been in my chrysalis and I am finally out and ready to fly into my bright future. Christopher Newport University is the direction I am ready to fly. Transferring to CNU means a brighter future, success, and being one step closer to reaching my goal to become an astonishing kindergarten teacher.
I first started thinking about college seriously two years ago. Last year was when I first heard about your college, Dallas Baptist University. It sounded too good to be true. A college close to my home, I could drive home every other weekend. You have good programs and degrees based off of my career interests. As well as, the fact that you guys are a Christian-based university. When I went to the Patriot Preview, this past year, the very first thing that we did as a group was worship in the chapel. It set the mood for the whole day.
When I Went To Florida I went to Florida after 4th grade in the summer. When we went to Florida, Jaxon my sisters, brother came with us. The night before we left he stayed at my house. When we left the next morning we left at 3:00 A.M. While we were on our way we both had to sit in the very back of the car because my sisters came with us. The ride there was not fun at all.
A lot of people had influences in the choice I made when I came to Lyndon State college. They are two people who had the most influences. The first person is my mother, she was everything I had while growing up. The second person is my truter and translate. I didn’t speak English and I was introduced to Mohamed Ahmed when I started middle school. After the first two years he started to become a good friend of mine. He helped me with everything that was related to school.
This is me Today I am a kid in school, just a number to most people. Just a statistic to my high school, and to Wake County Public school system. The not the only this I am, this is not the only place I have been or the last place I will be going. You see for me to be just another number here, or a good statistic at my high school, I had to have learn a thing or two along the way, this journey that I am on, that all of us are on, had to start somewhere.
I graduated back in 2013 from a pretty decent school district. During high school I wasn’t an A student or a B student, I just did what I needed in order to pass. Once I got to my junior of high school I started taking things more seriously, I started making A’s and B’s. Once my senior year started the pressure was on. Everyone asking “what college are you thinking about attending?” “What do you want to do?” I didn’t have the answers to those questions, I thought about it a lot, but I Just didn’t have the answers. Now being 20 years old at my third community college, I finally have the answers to those questions. Why am I at my third community college? Simple I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I had to go to college, I didn’t have a choice

Florida is the sunshine and alligator state. Which is awesome because Florida has a lot of sunshine and they have a lot of alligators there. Florida’s population is around 19.8 million because they have a lot of people all around the world. Florida is one of the best states in the world because of its awesome attractions such as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Studios, Holy Land, and more. So, that is one reason why I think it’s one of the best places in the world to live. The attractions in Florida are the things that were somewhat memorable to me. Florida is a wonderful place to live because of all the attractions I enjoyed there, and because of all the wonderful memories I had there. Whenever you ever go to Florida you would definitely enjoy it since Walt Disney World is there.
To start off, what I believe makes me unique and different from other candidates is my determination and my ability to get back up after being knocked down. Many students applying to the University of California have had continued academic success. Either they are successful high school students that have never posted anything lower than a 3.0 GPA or transfer students that have cruised easily through community college. This was not the case for me. I did have some success in high school receiving awards such as honor roll, but there were also numerous times when I struggled to maintain a passing grade. I began in college struggling throughout my first year, but that did not shatter my dreams of transferring. As a result, since my sophomore
Approaching Prairie View A&M University was very exciting for me because my high school mentor, Ms. Hill-Jones, graduated from PVAMU and shared amazing stories with me about the students and staff. Hearing such great stories about the school my expectations were high, so once I arrived to the school and got situated I expected to be greeted by the staff but what I received was a nice to meet you and goodbye. My disappointment level started to rise then after that I began to walk to the café or msc as they call it ; when I entered I was greeted by this kind old woman, “How you doing young man?” she said really sluggish. I replied with a simple fine then happen to tell the lady my entire situation then she respond enthusiastically, “Honey, You’ve been here for less than a day give it time baby.” After hearing her words of encouragement I started to see things different and stopped my rush thinking and gave it a few months and
For the past two years, I have been inundated with letters from colleges, which were excessive to the point of forcing me to throw away unopened, unread letters because I was too overwhelmed with the enormity of the decision that lay before me. But Oberlin has somehow mastered the art of informing without smothering. I was sent postcards about Oberlin that told me about life at Oberlin, and showed me the soul of the school. I felt that Oberlin genuinely “wished I was there”, and I began to wish I was there, too. So when I started seriously researching my options I realized that Oberlin College had a vibrant, diverse history department, a dynamic English department, and offered a concentration in education. It became evident that I could accomplish
