It should be outlawed because it can lead to long-lasting biological suffering in some women as well as emotional pain which may cause suicide. According to a study from the Elliot Institute (2001), scientists found out that: “the average annual suicide rate per 100,000 women was 3.0 for delivering women, compared to 7.8 for aborting women. The national average suicide rate for women between the ages of 15 and 44 is 5.2 per 100,000 women.” The data shows that after abortion, women actually will have higher suicide rates due to psychological trauma. Moreover, abortions are related to other health concerns. From immediate side effect for abortion, women may feel nausea, headache and vomiting; from short-term, abortions will cause allergy, infection or even prolonged bleeding, many women will bleed 9-16 days, and 1 in 12 will bleed 30 days or more and in the long term, if any parts of the fetus or placenta are left in the womb, it will affect future fertility. (Contracept.org, 2016) The evidence presented by several studies indicates that even though an abortion might benefit a woman in the short-term, it actually has long-term negative consequences and can result in many future health
Abortion has always been a controversial topic, and with debates from the recent presidential election bringing abortion back into the spotlight, it is clear that people have varying views as well as a great misunderstanding of abortion. Often, the morality of such action is widely discussed, and stones are quickly thrown. I believe that abortion should be legally and safely obtainable in all cases for women who feel it is the best path to take in their pregnancy. While abortion is currently legal in all 50 states, some lawmakers are working to make abortions virtually unobtainable. For example, in Ohio, a heartbeat bill sat on the desk of Governor Kasich.
With the overturning of Roe V. Wade in 2022, the talk about abortion has been on a rise - with various beliefs. Although the discussion of abortion has been a sensitive topic for years, the amount of forced pregnancies in recent years have been alarming. With being unable to provide services to women it not only puts the mother in risk of her own health but her life as well. The option to have an abortion should be legal in all states to encourage the protection of women's mental health, privacy, and freedom. Abortion should be legal to protect women from suffering from mental health caused by pregnancy.
Abortion has been performed for a long time. It was legal in the United States from the beginning it was created/founded. “At the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions were openly advertised and commonly performed. ”(History of Abortion) But in the mid-to-late 1800s some states began passing laws that made abortion illegal.
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
Why Abortion Should Be Illegal Abortion has been a popular debate in the United States, especially after the Supreme Court ruling in 1973 stating a woman has the right to an abortion. In my opinion, abortion is wrong and very unethical. There are some specific instances where abortion may be acceptable, but for the most part, abortion is an evil act. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of an innocent human, even if he or she has not been born yet.
Doris Gudino Professor Chounlamountry Political Science 1 27 July 2015 Pro-Choice Anyone? A woman has, undoubtedly, the freedom to procreate, but once a woman chooses to retreat from that freedom, a commotion arises. Abortion is a woman’s choice for many reasons. It’s her body, therefore, no one else can decide for said person.
For the last couple of years, americans have been deeply polarized over the issue of abortion. They debate has been cast in terms of “ pro-life” views and “pro-choice” views. The legality of abortion was confirmed in 1973 when the United States Supreme Court struck down a Texas
Worldwide, 42 million abortions occur every year, 20 million of which happen on unsafe terms (Haddad and Nour 122). As of late, abortion incidence has begun to decrease due to the creation and distribution of contraceptive medications, as this resulted in fewer unintended pregnancies. However, the overall number of unsafe abortions has remained the same, making the proportion of unsafe to safe terminations greater as time goes on (Sedgh et al. 629). This trend is especially evident in the United States, and does not appear to be ending soon; the epidemic of unsafe abortion in America will only continue to increase under current conditions. In this essay, I will use research conducted on the United States’ legislations to examine how the lack
The common belief among many people is that abortion is murder. I disagree. Abortion is not murder. Abortion cannot be considered murder, first, because it is the woman’s body in which the fetus resides. Secondly, abortion is not murder because there are reasons such as rape and possible birth defects that can contribute to the idea of having an abortion.
Abortion has been around and performed for thousands of years all around the world in different societies. From the very first settlers in the United States it has been legal to be performed. It was a very widely used procedure during the construction of the constitution as well. (History of Abortion) During the mid to late 1800s the states then decided to start passing laws in order to make the procedure of abortion illegal.
Abortion Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by abolishing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. Abortion is a very controversial topic, for example, one side of this topic believes abortion is cruel and committing murder, while the other side believes that since the fetus or embryo isn 't developed enough to be considered a living human being yet, that abortion is not commiting murder. Despite this information, there is a lot more to abortion than the opinion of it being “right” or “wrong”. According to “Students for life” who are pro life, about 1 million abortions are executed each year in the US. That data adds up to 22% of pregnancies ending in abortion.
According to the World Health Organisation, there were 19 million unsafe abortions in 2000. In 2004 there were about 60000 maternal deaths worldwide caused by complications from unsafe abortions. Abortions should be legal so that the women can have safe abortions that will not pose a threat to their health. Raising a child is not an easy task and requires a lot of commitment and financial resources. When a woman feels she is not ready for a child, it implies that the pregnancy is unwanted.
Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, there’s another way to solve the problem if you don’t want a child you could put it up for adoption. If the parents weren’t ready to have a child, instead of abortion there’s adoption. Instead of having the option to abort, women should give their unwanted babies to people who cannot conceive ON YHEIR OWN. Most mothers don’t understand the consequences that occur from abortion. Everyone should have responsibility for their behavior.
Abortion should be illegal because it unjustly takes innocent lives, insults and violates Christian values, and inflicts pain and illnesses on
Never mind the morality of abortion, even the health risks are unbelievable. When a woman receives an abortion she runs a 65 percent higher risk of clinical depression and 160 percent more likely to be hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. Abortions create more complications than going full term with a
