When it comes to racial profiling people automatically believe that it is harsh and inhuman as well that the victim had nothing to do that caused racial profiling , when it comes to being frisked and detained. In an article written by “National institute of Justice” it stated “What is clear from the research is that race is a consistent predictor of attitudes toward the police. Hence, some researchers argue that what happens during the stop is as important as the reason for it”. when it comes to law enforcement people always blame the police officer for taken a little more action on detaining someone.
I want to make an argument that racially-motivated police brutality is unfair. Police brutality is a use of unjustified force that can cause serious injury or even death. When it comes to situations where an unarmed black man was killed by a police officer, it hits the news fast and people pay more attention. The racism that comes from police is a sign of oppression to specific groups. This needs to come to attention because instead of reacting with public riots, we as a society need to be more proactive about changing the racism of police brutality.
Sandy Banks is bothered by the injustice of police officers towards possible innocent victims. Because it seems like if officers rely on shooting at people as their safest option, Banks demands better training to help solve this issue. Police officers being caught on camera doesn 't changes the fact that the victim will become wounded, or pass away, yet, in most cases officers are not held accountable for the insensible act. In her article, "Horrific videos aren 't solving police shootings, but better training might" Banks asks for better training for police officers, as she developed strong pathos with details, great logos with logical solutions and consequences, but a weak ethos by not mentioning her credentials and the other side of the story.
The issue is, people have different opinions; those who have witnessed or known someone who’s been accused of joint enterprise are more likely to be against it then those in public who only know the outside story. This shows that many people don’t actually understand its use and if they did they would dislike the law. Additionally, those not even present at the scene of a crime can be found guilty of murder. This shows that the “lazy law” takes time off police officer’s hands making it easier to jail anyone
Quentin Tarantino once said “Just because I was at an anti-police brutality protest, doesn 't mean I 'm anti-police. We want justice, but stop shooting unarmed people.” Some people that read this quote might totally disagree but i believe it to be true. Too many people these days think that just because your are anti-police brutality means that you are also just anti-police which is not the case. Even though the police force is doing all the can to handle the situation as much as possible, police misconduct and brutality in the United states is becoming more common and should be resolved immediately because it has led to too many innocent people dying because of their reckless actions which was all caused by police acting on situations
This can affect how they perform their job and the outcomes of cases. The ultimate objective for law enforcements are to assist the public. From the research done by Brenner (1947) he states, “Police use of deadly force and the issues surrounding it are of primary concern to all, but the problem is particularly acute for black, Hispanic, and Native Americans”. He goes on to state that “because of alleged misuse of deadly force, police departments across the country have experienced strong criticism and even violent protests” (Brenner, 1947). Police officers having experienced this strong criticism and violent protests are being put into violent and dangerous situations which can cause them to react to the heat of the
For millions of Americans, the presents of a uniformed police officer bring comfort and assurance that order in being kept amongst our society. For others, the feeling of being stopped because they look or act a certain way bring frustration and fear amongst minorities. Criminal profiling is a high-profile issue facing law enforcement, due to criticisms about how profiling’s were carried out. Difference in police exists. Whether profiling is the exception or the rule, it is highly debated across the United States.
A problem that we tend to have in our criminal justice system that needs to be addressed is police brutality. Police brutality have become a widespread problem against the world and not just only in the United States. There have been a few unjustified shootings, serious beatings, deadly choking 's, and other brutal offenses that have been made over the years. At this point of time, fatal shootings are becoming very common for our officers in today 's society. However, the police officers responsible for the killings are not suspended for long or punished before they are able to report back to their normal duties.
In recent years there has been more accounts of police brutality on citizens who haven’t done anything wrong. In which some of the actions done by some police officers have led to some major consequences. Imagine a person named Tim is just minding his own business buying things or just walking around, next thing you know a police officer comes out of nowhere and starts beating Tim for no reason. No one would like that to happen to them but this is a scenario that has been popping up more recently with some having deadlier consequences. Since of this issue police officers need to wear body cameras to record when they interact with citizens.
When they realize there is no one else around, they freeze. Police brutality is becoming a huge problem in America because, police don’t know when to pull the trigger therefore needing better training, which would then cause innocent people to stop dying, and police are supposed to protect not kill. First, police need better training so they know when to actually pull the trigger or not. Sometimes, police think that you are armed just based on the color of your skin. Watching the news has made this more apparent than ever, white policemen are killing black teens,
For me there are many reasons to why I think police brutality is apparent in our community. One of the biggest reasons is because police man and woman are scared when they 're in certain situations I think to fix this problem the police departments all around America should start training these police men and women how to be calm cool and collective when it comes to situations like this. Also, looking back at the Michael Brown case I think that the policemen should be fired and I feel the police department should personally apologize to the family and try to help them with any losses and any financial problems they have in the near future because of the death. The Police Department do have reasons for why these events occurred. The police say they were either getting attacked or they felt that they were being disrespected.
Police brutality remains a common yet controversial topic around the world. Police brutality is “the use of excessive and/or unnecessary force by police when dealing with civilians” (thelawdictionary.org). It’s a topic that segregates communities and makes each other their enemy. Specifically, a white officer has been the enemy of the black community. Unfortunately, the tension between police and blacks grew over the past few decades.
And the sad part is if I had known what I know now then I would have not been so surprised. This justice system is unfair, to all of its citzens, but more so black and brown citizens. Michael Brown and his family deserved for justice to brought. Some try and say that michael was a thug or like to bring up the fact that he had possible stolen something but the fact remains that an unarmed teen was killed by a police officer. An oifficer who was supposed to serve and
Body cameras help address issues with inappropriate police behavior and police brutality. According to the article, “Body Cameras Worn by Police Officers Are No ‘Safeguard of Truth,’ Experts Say”, One officer in Phoenix, Arizona was fired after his body camera captured repeated incidents of unprofessional conduct. The video shows the officer swearing at suspects, calling them names, and insulting them. Continuously wearing body cameras would hold police accountable for their appropriate and inappropriate conduct. Body cameras could prevent cases like the Ferguson shooting.
