Developing Instrument to Measure Road Sign Usability Abstract Questionnaires are the most widely implemented data collection method in evaluation research. This paper intends to introduce a psychometric instrument to calculate road signs usability based on road users’ perception on sign characteristics. Sign characteristics are attributes of a sign that affect its usability. Those attributes are found through review of literatures and subsequently adapted to construct questionnaire items. Calculation method and interpretation of the newly developed questionnaire will be introduced. The questionnaire underwent a series of validity and reliability check and used in a field test. Lack of suitable psychometric assessment of signs usability shows …show more content…
Modifications are made on SUS with the intention of enhancing it and make it suitable to assess the usability of road signs. The System Usability Scale (SUS) is a popular 10-item instrument in measuring the usability of diverse type of interfaces. SUS is a non- proprietary questionnaire developed by Brooke (1996). Its reliable, simple to administer and robust nature makes it a popular choice for general usability testing. Scoring the questionnaire yields a usability score in the ranges from 0 to 100. SUS can be implemented for any interfaces because of its generality. Bangor, et.al (2008) tested SUS for various interfaces, include cell phone equipment, customer premise equipment, graphical user interface for OS-based computer interfaces; interactive voice response phone systems, including speech based as well as web based …show more content…
I thought there was too much inconsistency in this system I thought that there was too much inconsistency in this road sign I would imagine that most people would learn to use this system very quickly I would imagine that most people would learn this road sign very quickly I found the system very cumbersome to use I found this road sign very awkward to understand I felt very confident using the system I felt very confident in my understanding of this road sign I needed to learn a lot of things before I could get going with this system I needed to learn a lot of things before I could understand this road sign The modified SUS is then presented to a panel of experts consisting of academicians and practitioners in the area of human factors for amendment. Reviews will be further described in stage 4. Aside from modified SUS, the final version of the instrument includes the addition of items on sign characteristics, in addition to 2 modified learnability items from Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS). Final version of the instrument is as follow: No. Item Adapted
The target respondents were invited to complete the questionnaire and directed them to a brief explanation of the research. If a respondent volunteered to participate they were able to read the instructions and complete the questionnaire online from any internet-connected device. Contact details of the researcher were also provided in the initial description of the form should the respondent have any enquiry regarding the questionnaire. Data were collected on 23rd December 2015 from 8 a.m. until 8 a.am 24th December 2015. The length of time for data collection was considered ideal as it allowed a sufficient amount of time for interested respondent to participate in the study.
Unit 12- D1: Review a recent advance in support system technology In this document I will be reviewing recent advances in support systems technology. For this I have chosen 3 developments. In the modern world, IT is something we all use for a range of different tasks from entertainment to work. As technology advances, the chance of encountering an error increases as we use more technological advances.
Operational definitions and response criteria was defined across subjects. Data was collected on hand-held computer devices and inter-observer agreement was calculated with mean ranges from 94% to 97% for response rate and 78% to 99% for response
How were your peers’ assessments and feedback received? Answer: I read over the learning guide before beginning the third unit of the learning week. On Thursday, February 9, 2023, about 8am (local time), or 2am (UoPeople time), I signed into the Moodle and started reading the learning guide. I thoroughly read the learning guide while keeping my notes close by, and I now know what the focus of the entire course will be.
This is to measure entry-level competence assessment of their competence for entry-level practice over time. The rating scale of FWPEs ranges from 1-4. With 1 being unsatisfactory and 4 being exceed standers. At midterm having a 54 or above is satisfactory. I learn that keeping an open
The 16 participants (11 female, five male; Mage = 21.81, SDage = 2.2, age range: 20-36 years) were undergraduates at the University of California, Los Angeles. They participated as per requirement for their Psychological Research Methods course. All were presumed to have English fluency, normal hearing, and normal or corrected-to-normal vision. Design
The evaluator should evaluate all the areas that impact learning ( sight, hearing, etc.) so that
Safety perception was influenced by directness features, safety related infrastructure and social-demographic variables such as gender and transit use. To improve safety perception, safety related infrastructure as well as directness features that limit safety hazards can be implemented. In addition safety perception was significantly correlated with directness, continuity and aesthetics perceptions. 3.
The data were processed and analyzed using SPSS version 18. Frequencies, cross tabulation, Pearson’s, chi-square test, ANOVA were used to analyze the data. A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically
In the short story, “A Worn Path”, Eudora Welty uses symbolism to tell the story of Phoenix Jackson’s determination and resilience in life. Welty’s story depicts the journey of a black woman as she walks a path she has walked numerous times in her life. During Phoenix’s trek she is faced with several experiences that could have warranted her to abandon her mission. The first experience, in my opinion, was during the first portion of her trip; to which she states, “something always take a hold of me on this hill- pleads I should stay” (Kirszner & Mandell, 2012, p. 388).

In the short story “The only traffic signal on the reservation doesn’t flash red anymore”, Sherman Alexie uses the broken traffic signal as a symbol to allude to what life is like for Native Americans on the reservation. If the function of a traffic signal is to create system in an otherwise chaotic society, its brokenness reflects the intrinsic defeat Native Americans face on a daily basis, leads to eventual destruction of potential heroes and suggests that if not fixed, success will never be an option. In the most simple sense, the broken traffic signal refers to the discouraging society and brokenness of life on the reservation for the modern Native Americans. The protagonists of this story, Victor and Adrian, are sitting around

It is also make them realize that they will put other person life in danger if the disobeys the law B. Some students have hard time remembering the meaning of road signs and symbols and usually ignore them. i. We have to admit not all of us remember the meaning of each road signs and symbols but with this act, that’s no longer a problem because in order to pass an annual test within the five year period, you have to understand and memorize each of the signs and symbols ii. It will also help them to know all the hazardous symbols and signs on the road and will surely help them avoid any dangerous encounter such as, under construction road, landslide area, or even a dead
The concept of accessibility extends to a wide range of facilities that are a part of our everyday usage such as elevators, Braille signage and sound-enabled signals at pedestrian crossings. The overall aim of this concept is to enable people with special requirements to gain access to aspects of everyday life that include transportation, education, employment, housing, entertainment and so on.
The students selected came from three sections to avoid prejudice of their perceptions. In order to assure manageability of the collected data, the questionnaire only included multiple choice, checklist, Likert scale, ranking/rating questions and did not include open-ended response
