The interior of rumah gadang in Garudayana follows the traditional rumah gadang interior design. Rumah gadang is known to have many ornaments with nature-related carvings. Image 28 shows the uniform and repetitive flower patterns on the rumah gadang’s door in Garudayana. Image 29 shows the carved block of woods attached to the ceiling as decoration and the vine-patterned friezes on the upper and lower part of the wall. Although much more simplified, Yuniarto manages to capture the essence of the interior decoration of a rumah gadang. Indonesian is familiar with Sanskrit words especially because some Indonesian words are borrowed from Sanskrit. Until the 15th century Hinduism was the major religion in Indonesia. When the Indians came, they used Sanskrit to spread Hinduism. Although some Sanskrit words used in Garudayana cannot be found in Indonesian dictionary, these words are used together or combined with Indonesian words. Bima’s skills are named Candra Khara, Candra Arda and Candra Purnama. The words “khara” and “arda” cannot be found in Indonesian language. However, the words “candra” and “purnama” are Sanskrit words commonly used in Indonesian language. Although readers may not fully understand the name of the skill, they can sense the familiarity in the language used. Moreover, Yuniarto actually added notes that translate the names of these skills. As Yuniarto mentioned that he wants to make younger Indonesians to value Indonesian culture more , using some Sanskrit words in the comic is effective. This also allows Yuniarto’s comic to feel more Indonesian as readers recognise unique skills’ or items’ names that are related to Indonesian
