Women played a key role in the war, many women risk their lives and serve in the military, “Women’s Airforce Service Pilots, or WASPs became the first women to fly American military aircraft. They ferried planes from factories to bases, transporting cargo and participating in simulation strafing and target missions” (History.com). For the time in American history women was doing other thing in the military. Many women enjoy their jobs during World War 2 because it was new opportunity and many were excited because they helping with the war effort. By allowing women in the workforce more will create more available manpower to fight overseas.

In the First American Army by Bruce Chadwick, he writes of the many stories and experiences of the men and women that fought in the revolutionary war. The examination of these experiences creates an overwhelming feeling of great determination for the colonist’s freedom and liberty from the opposing military of Great Britain. Chadwick also writes of the many disease epidemics that occurred. In addition to that he includes copious examples of the hardships of war and what the numerous enlisted soldiers, doctors, lawyers, ministers, and officers endured while living in the camps of the Colonial Army. Overall, the experiences of the men and women that fought reveal their bravery and how much they wanted liberty.
John Tierney’s article, “A Cold War Fought be Women” (2013), argues that “intrasexual competition” and the need for young women to meet the “standards of sexual conduct and physical appearance” are the most important causes of the pressures that women in our current society face. Tierney supports his argument with data from research on the interaction between women in situations that would trigger competition or indirect aggression. The Effect of Women on the Outcome of World War Two World War II effected women tremendously by taking them out of their comfort zones and chucking them into the work force and pushing them to do most of the work men normally would have been doing. The war also effected women by providing opportunities for them to serve in non-traditional roles; in fact, some of them enlisted into the military to serve the United States. The way the war effected women is that they had to take care of family in addition to performing work normally done by men. It was difficult to find people to watch after kids which made life during this time very difficult. After the end of World War II society in general was effected considering the baby boom.
There are of course both pros and cons to women joining the draft, as there are to any controversial topic. The perks of this acceptance would be career advancement, military readiness, and effectiveness; unfortunately, with helpful pros comes the unwanted negatives. Physical ability, tradition, and overall efficiency are just three to list, there obviously are more; however, these would prove to be the most prominent. All in all, women should be accepted into the military draft, because not only would they benefit the country in political and global ways, but the acceptance would also help those that live within this nation. Women make up just as much, if not more than the population that men do within the United States, and going by age not all men will be drafted into the military
Going back all the way to the American Revolution women served in the military. They were only allowed to serve as nurses until World War I. Then they were trained to be stenographers and combat phone operators. Women are allowed to serve in combat now but not in a combat military occupational specialty (MOS). Even to this day the question still remains “Should women be able to serve in combat military occupational specialties?”
In the feature article “All Guts, No Glory”, I agree with the author Molly M. Ginty, that women participating in combat. If I was in the military some of the things that might affect me would be probably because of my gender. First, women would not be put into battle because people think women cannot handle the work or bloodshed. They think women are better off bring a nurse for helping men in battle if they get injured. Second, they think women in combat would be a distraction.
Women continue to disprove the stereotype that they are too “frail and delicate” to serve in the armed forces. Equality means equal rights and equal responsibilities, and if a woman can meet the same requirements mandatory for men to join the armed forces, she should be eligible for the draft. During World War II, Woman’s were assembled for duty in the Canadian Armed Forces, for the first time. The armed force was shy of men in war services and administration, which lead the Canadian government to choose and declare on August 13, 1941 to give woman’s the privilege to take an interest in war utility. 50,000 women were enlisted and more than half provided service in the Canadian Army. Most were doled out occupations including customary female work, for example, cooking, clothing and administrative obligations, also woman had pioneer roles in the mechanized and specialized fields. The Canadian Women 's Army Corps (CWAC) performed fundamental administrations, both at home and abroad, that achieved Allied victory.
Being a girl is hard, women have been the second best since the beginning of time, women weren’t allowed to do a man's job in the military and it’s time that further evolves into women and men doing all of the same jobs. Although, some may argue that keeping women protected from the harsh realities of war is the reasonable thing to do and those people have a valid argument when they say women aren’t emotionally stable enough to fight on the front lines, or that women aren’t strong enough to serve; this applies to some women not all. Women have proven themselves capable of so much more than the standard that is set for them in the military: overcoming their physical differences and putting the excuses to rest. Women have proven themselves as being competent and qualified for tasks and jobs in the military even under stressful or dangerous conditions. Men are allowed to choose combat and women should also be given this choice. Society will not suffer because not all women desire to fight in war-like conditions or deployments. Recently, there are numerous women who serve as Generals and Admirals. They consist of all components of the forces including serving in combat units and onboard ships.
