Peer Pressure in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible There are many types of flaws in human beings. Some of them are jealousy, selfishness, or peer pressure. Most of the human flaws lead to tragedy. Victor Hugo believes that most people act like they’re better than others or often trying not to be an outcast.
The two stories, “Harrison Bergeron” and Fahrenheit 451, both have common themes. The common themes of the stories may include; our reliance on technology can spiral out of control if we let it, knowledge is joyful and painful, and that we can be confined by our own self-censorship. All of these themes are exhibited throughout both stories frequently. Whether it is as Montag has conflict with his wife over books or as Harrison’s parents forget right from wrong in their society. In Fahrenheit 451, their technology definitely gets out of control.
Life in the Middle Ages “The Canterbury Tale” has very realistic scenarios that many people can relate too, and struggle with everyday of their lives. This tale talks about the lower class characters who have their struggle just like the high end society. Real life scenarios do not always have logical and organized connections. The human brain has been tested but still cannot manage to understand human kind. In “The Miller’s Tale” there was a friendship that turned into rivalry.
This led to many different conflicts especially during his political career. He had many disagreements with other politicians when they thought differently than himself, including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Aaron Burr, but one conflict that he had that did not include politics was his affair with Maria Reynolds. This affair was thought to be one of the first major scandals in the country’s history (Biography.com 30). As for the political conflicts, they mostly consisted of letters being published about the other person to humiliate them or to cause them to lose their political influence, but some ended with a duel. In the case of Thomas Jefferson, he and Hamilton had opposing views and both spent a lot of time trying to discredit the other, in the case of John Adams, Hamilton was afraid that he did not share his political views and did not want someone like that as president so he tried to sway the voting so that Adams would be vice president instead (Britannica 15).
For a long time people have always thought that men and women have certain roles. They have to do these specific roles and if they don 't do what they are supposed to do they are frowned upon and people have a hard time accepting that. In all reality men and women have certain roles but there are roles that can be done by both. For example women can do jobs that are considered men jobs and vice versa.
In the book “The Things a Brother Knows” by Dana Reinhardt there are many characters that all possess different traits. Often, these traits can have negative effects on the characters, causing their downfall. In this particular story, Boaz possess the trait of selfishness that is shown throughout the story. In the story, Boaz puts his own interests in front of those of his family, friends, and peers. Often, causing problems for those who care about him and eventually causing his own downfall.
They give assigned jobs that you have to do. The Giver and Anthem both are a very dystopian place both having different rules but similar, and different. In The Giver and Anthem they are told to do things they do not want to do. “I feel sorry for anyone who is in a place where he feels strange and stupid.
Despite the fact that Zeus held so much power, he still made mistakes. His other relationships often evoked negative responses. Zeus also made errors even with his powers. Authors usually contrast the two sides of a character to represent Zeus.
