WHO AM I Over my sophomore year of high school I personally have evolved into a different person than who I was freshman and the beginning of sophomore year. Over the year I have obtained many new qualities some are good and some are bad that is just a part of life you sometimes have to overcome bad things in life. I have obtained the strength and will like Hester Prynne, but I also feel like I have to prove myself against my fellow classmates and friends like Collins . I also feel as if I have obtained being patriot like Brutus as I try to back everything I say up and standing up for what I believe in. These qualities are in a lot of circumstances good but in a lot of situations they can be bad. I have obtained the will and strength of Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter. In the Scarlet Letter had to endure “A penalty which in our days would infer a degree of mocking infamy and ridicule might then be invested with almost as stern a dignity as the punishment of death itself.” This act had to take a lot of strength and will because the whole town was staring and shouting hateful things towards her. Even though pearl showed “ if an evil spirit possessed the child, and had just then peeped forth in mockery.” This had to take a lot of strength and will …show more content…
Brutus was tired of the way that Caesar was ruling taking advantage of him and his fellow men. Brutus knew that once Caesar came into power it would be corrupt government and bad things would happen. One day at a event a soothsayer approached Julius Caesar and said “Beware the ides of March.” Caesar then replied with “He is a dreamer; let us leave him: pass.” Brutus fulfilled this by standing up for what he believed in and later killing Julius Caesar in the ides of
A Bleak World’s Best Citizen: Rewrite #1 Mark Van Doren’s essay “Hester Prynne” expresses Van Doren’s warm admiration for Hester Prynne’s character in The Scarlet Letter. In Van Doren’s essay, the author elevates Hester Prynne, using his analysis to illustrate his belief in her morality, despite her harsh circumstances. He explores the reasons behind Hester’s strength throughout the novel, and in relation to other characters such as Dimmesdale and Chillingsworth. Van Doren effectively builds his argument by employing historical allusion, repetition, and emotional diction in his case for Hester Prynne.
Hester Prynne, the Worst Sinner Three different people, all with different stories but all have something in common; they’re all sinners but the question is who is the biggest sinner? In The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, many characters are portrayed as sinners like Dimmesdale, Hester, and Chillingworth. But overall the biggest sinner in the story was Hester Prynne and there are many reasons for it. Obviously the reason for the scarlet letter, she was an adulteress. Hester caused many problems with people in the town including the most holy man Dimmesdale and a man that should've never been involved, Chillingworth.

The first thing is his pride his pride is his motto. Like Brutus is the type of person to just care about himself his pride is his life. He just doesn't understand that his pride is his flaw like that will be the reason that will end his life. Like due to his pride he did actions that made him look like a straight up fool he killed his best friend and he planned his death out makes it even
Is Hester Prynne the best citizen of Boston? I believe she is one of the best citizens of Boston if not the best citizen. In the novel of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester gives back to the community by donating the extra money that she earns from sewing articles of clothing. She is looked upon for advice when she returns from Europe. She has been given the scarlet letter as a punishment, but this also keeps her from misbehaving.
In the beginning of the book, Hester Prynne, a civilian from Massachusetts Bay Colony, is being led to the scaffold where she is sentenced to be publicly shamed for committing the act of adultery. Within her sentence, Hester is forced to embroider a large scarlet “A” on all of her dresses. She had stitched the “A” with gold thread, which added a sense of elegance that she is now denied. On the scaffold, Hester carries Pearl, her daughter, in her arms at all times. On the scaffold, Hester is asked to reveal the name of Pearl’s father, but she refuses to release that information.
"The ides of March are come/ Ay, Caesar, but not [yet] gone." (III.i.12) Sure enough, the Soothsayer was unmistaken, and on that very day (March 15), Julius Caesar would take his last breath. At this marking, the movement of the conspirators began in "liberating" Rome.
Persuasive Essay Should Brutus join the conspiracy against Caesar? Some may want Brutus to dodge the conspiracy. While others prefer Brutus to join the scheme against Caesar. Brutus has the done the right thing, by choosing to join the conspiracy, and claims he carries reasonable judgements all throughout act I and act II, for joining the conspiracy. Brutus understands that he needs to do this for the people of Rome, he needs to do it to prevent tyranny, and he realizes that evil can come from a good person.
We are all sinners, no matter how hard we try to hide our faults, they always seem to come back, one way or another. Written in the 19th century, Nathaniel Hawthorne shows us Hester Prynne and how one sin can change her life completely. Hester Prynne changes a great deal throughout The Scarlet Letter. Through the view of the Puritans, Hester is an intense sinner; she has gone against the Puritan way of life committing the highest act of sin, adultery. For committing such a sinful act, Hester must wear the scarlet letter while also having to bear stares from those that gossip about her.
In “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”, Caesar’s main flaw is his arrogance and ambition, which both led to his doom. His overconfidence and self-love blinded him of the sharp thorns growing from his sides which were masked with loyalty and care. Viciously assassinated by the closest people in his heart, Julius Caesar had been known for centuries as the blind conceited man. On the other hand, loyalty conflicted Brutus, who is argued to be the protagonist of the tragedy. Although he was loyal to Caesar, he was loyal to his nation too and thought that the death of Caesar would be for the best for the nation.
Punishment of Puritans for their sins occurred harshly and frequently, and these punishments ranged from fines, branding, and severe whippings to hanging and death. Many of these penalties involved public humiliation of some kind, which made it extremely difficult for townspeople to accept by their peers after they had sinned. Because the Puritans believed religion was immensely important, the community was often reluctant to allow citizens that exhibited sinful behavior to achieve redemption (Cox). However, in the case of Hester Prynne, an adulterer in Nathaniel Hawthorne 's The Scarlet Letter, the townspeople eagerly made amends with her. This novel narrates the life of Hester Prynne, who committed adultery and courageously accepted the repercussions
In Brutus’s speech he used ethos and logos to try and control the people of Rome. He was stoic and blinded of what Antony was capable of. He wanted to change their minds about the conspiracy and the murder of Caesar. Brutus says “Had you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men” (III, i, 23-24).
People are parading in the streets instead of working in their shops, Brutus is concerned how has friendship between Caesar and the people in Rome will affect the people in the city. And one of the quotes was “ Beware the ides of March” pg.4 it means be careful on that day march 15 that will be a bad and tragic day, for this story and for all the Roman citizens that are living in the city. Also means is a bad day for the people in Rome, everyone now is against Caesar and everyone is trying to get rid of him. They wanted to kill him and get another king in the city of

Feminism is the philosophy advocating equal political, economic, and social rights for women. The idea of feminism was not at all prevalent during the 1850s when Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter was published. In spite of this, Hawthorne wrote one of the most influential feminist novels of his time: The Scarlet Letter. This novel was hailed as an important feminist novel because of the main character: Hester Prynne.
