‘The Charmer’ by Budge Wilson is a short story that resembles ‘The Story of the Prodigal Son.’ Zachary and the youngest son in The Prodigal Son took advantage of their family in different ways. The first quote was said by Zachary states, "No longer worthy to be called thy son" (Wilson 103), which the narrator called "the prodigal son bit" (Wilson 105). The youngest son likewise said a similar quote that states, "Father, I have behaved too badly to be called your son!" Those stories show that when asking for forgiveness, both sons don't feel the worth of being their parent's sons because of their mistakes. Also quoted by the narrator said by Zachary was, "Make me as one of thy hired servants" (Mimico 105). This was also said similarly by the

The quote from Helen Keller, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow,” means that you should always stay optimistic and determined, this relates to both the article and the poem because the both talk about optimism. An example that Sue Monk mentions in the book about making a child to think wrong is when her father lies and tells Lily that her mother never loved her and that she ran away from her, You thinking your mother is your guardian angel, the woman could have care less about you..(pg. 39). I think that when a father lies to a child by not telling her the truth, he is just hurting his child. Why keep lying and not telling her the truth that her mother did love her? I think that a childs mother will always love more than a father because a mother will always be there the more if a child needs help. Also a mother takes more care because she had the child in her belly for months so it will hurt to her if she hurts a child.

The poem “A Story” by Li-Young Lee depicts the complex relationship between a boy and his father when the boy asks his father for a story and he can’t come up with one. When you’re a parent your main focus is to make your child happy and to meet all the expectations your child meets. When you come to realize a certain expectation can’t satisfy the person you love your reaction should automatically be to question what would happen if you never end up satisfying them. When the father does this he realizes the outcome isn’t what he’d hope for. He then finally realizes that he still has time to meet that expectation and he isn’t being rushed.
No more delay. You slaves, take them off inside. From this point on they must act like women and have no liberty to wander off. Even bold men run when they see Hades coming close to them to snatch their live” (Sophocles, lines 660-665).
In the novel, “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” by Christopher Paul Curtis, Kenny wonders why his brother, Byron, is so mean to him and to others. When comparing the way Byron treats others and by the way Kenny treats others, it can conclude Kenny definitely treats other more kindly than Byron. Byron partakes in fighting with a lot of aggression during or after school hours. When Kenny is supposed to be watching on the sidelines until the fight is over, he does not because he dislikes fighting, or watching people fight. While Kenny beats up Larry Dunn, Kenny feels sorry for him, even after what Larry has done to him and his friends while being bullied by the majority of the school.
The theme of the story was also shown through another father and son.

Everyone has forgiven the narrator but himself; therefore, he should be able to forgive himself
