Having a family means taking on an immense deal of responsibility, such as making sure that they are all is safe, fed and warm. Typically, the parents, who hopefully have a degree to obtain a job and thereby are able to provide the family with everything that they need or wish, handle these responsibilities. However, having a job and earning money is something that takes up a lot time, meaning that the parents are not always able to provide their children with the one thing that is of the highest of importance. Love and affection towards the children. There are children who understand the position that their parents are in and why their absence is substantial, however, children will always feel a need to be loved by their parents. The consequence if the parents are not involved in their children’s life is that the children grow up independently and will even find it troublesome when the absent parents endeavour to be a part of their life. It might even come to the point of being annoying for the children, since they only consider their parents as objects that are supposed to fulfil their material needs and nothing else. The short story “The Decline of the West” written in 2010 by Hanif Kureishi, is an example of such outcome, when the father loses his job and tries to have a conversation with his sons, but they do not wish his presence and find him tiring when he tries to be a father.
The title “The Decline of the West” is interesting since it could be proceeded as a
Westward Expansion Flash Draft Have you ever wondered about what would 've happened if the westward expansion never occurred? We wouldn 't have many things you know today and America would be a lot smaller. The westward expansion happened during the 1800s and helped shape the modern America. The westward expansion started with the Louisiana Purchase and was made even stronger by the Gold Rush. Many people came to strike it rich or just to start a new life out west.
The Westward Expansion all started when America made the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. There were many benefits from the purchase for the US that the French didn’t realize before they sold it. The purchase gave the US access to the Mississippi river which allowed for expansion of river trade to the North and South from the center of the US. The port city of New Orleans was bought by the US and its prosperity benefited the US greatly. The US sent Lewis and Clark west to investigate the land they purchased.
Former UCLA History Professor and author, Roger D. McGrath, in his article, “The Myth of Violence in the Old West,” (Gunfighters, Highwaymen, and Vigilantes: Violence on the Frontier, 1984) asserts there is no connection between the violence of the Old West and violence today. Firstly, McGrath begins his article by introducing the main claim. Then introduces Bodie an infamous town known for its crime, located on the trans-Sierra frontier. He then discusses the low rate of larcenous crime found through the FBI index; which the information shows that individuals weren’t the targets and crime was thwarted by citizens. The explanation of the law larceny rate could be due to the fact more citizens were armed, therefore criminals were threatened
In America today it is hard for certain families to make a living and to keep a job. College is very expensive and not many people can afford to go to college. And when it comes to finding a job that pays enough to support a family and gives you the hours you want so that you can still spend time with your family is nearly impossible. Family time is very important to sustain a healthy, strong relationship with all the members of your family.
For some, it was destiny to move west. Although there were many conflicts and disagreements between ourselves and others, it was destiny to move west because of overpopulation, new inventions of transportation methods, and new opportunities. In the 19th Century, overpopulation was one of the major reasons for Westward Expansion. Immigrants were flooding into America for new opportunities and new ways of life and there was just not enough land to suffice the needs for all of the people. These immigrants were arriving in America in the port cities on the East Coast.
Exam Paper 1 In what ways did the American West of the late nineteenth century represent a contrast to the East? In what ways did the two regions resemble each other?
Manifest Destiny and the Westward Expansion was made so that the Americans could expand as far as the Pacific Ocean. All though this was a benefit for the Americans, it caused the Native Americans and the Mexicans to deal with a lot of hardship. There were many political, economic, and social reasons for Manifest Destiny, but these reasons did not always have positive outcomes. The Westward Expansion and Manifest Destiny negatively impacted the economic vision of America.
A man’s role in life is to provide for the family in most cases, other than those great single mothers, but their hard work has a reward and it is the happiness of their family. I relate this to my parents, they provide for my sister and me, and we thank them for that with that special bond we have. C.S. Lewis also mentioned Need-Love, which is explained like when a child is in need for his/her mother’s arms (pg.11). I do not have any children, but I remember about my sister being a young child wanting
There’s no typical family as nuclear families as in the past and not everyone lives in a multigenerational household. Same-sex families are also on the rise as sexual ambiguity is undergoing its own wave of acceptance in all political, social, and economic spheres. With the absence of the parents’ presence in the home due to an inability effectively balance work and home life, children could develop an emotional void/absence. Good communicative dialogue between children and their parents where the adults describe their work situation as it relates to the home to create resilient children, could possibly benefit the household.
Essay #2 Parents play a very important role in the lives of their children. If parents do it in the right way, it positively impacts children’s mental and emotional condition. One of the main characters from the short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oates, Connie, does not have that kind of relationships with her parents, with who she can share her thoughts or who to get a good advice from. The main reason of all Connie’s mental and emotional problems is that her parents do not play a good role model for her and compare with the older sister. Being parents is far more than just providing children with food and clothes.
A parent’s love and care is a major key to makes their children feel special .For example, in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the Ewell family don't care what their children do or if they attend school. This represents not being an ideal parent and a parent who does not care about their children. Parents should show their love by using warm words, hugs and facial expressions. As a matter of fact, they should always explain something to their child calmly and out of love.
As a result, family bonding is decreasing and kids are not prepared with hands on experience. Parents want to be nice, so their child will love them more and they can be the “cool dad” or “cool mom” in the child’s heart. But it should be the parents’ job to step up and do what is best for the protection of a child, which can be read in Cari Romm’s online article from The Cut, “Is It Really Possible for Parent to Be Friends With Their Kid”. Also as the world to grow wealthier, it seems children are no longer enforced with chores and responsibilities by parents possibly due to the fact that they no longer appreciate the value of money. So in result they believe that money can solve problems and responsibilities.
In a family there are many different roles; there's the role of the mother, the father, the child, the grandparents, then there’s the brothers and sisters. Every single one of those roles has different responsibilities. The father, according to most of society, is supposed to be the breadwinner for the family. However, nowadays the mother is actually quite capable of being the breadwinner just as much of as the father. As they work to show their children what it is to be an adult they are teaching them as well on how to be an active member of society.
The children learned basic norms and values from the parents. The parents supply the economic needs for the child such as foods and education (ResviseSociology, 2014). In a family, different person performs different role and function such as a mother should take care of her child. The important is the child can feel the love and support from their parents (Gordon, 1997). Family dysfunction may appear in broken families, violent families and divorced families, etc.
Throughout Fahrenheit 451, it is evident that many characters do not appreciate the importance of family however in our society family is very significant to many people. There are numerous examples of parents not appreciating their spouses or their children. For example, in Fahrenheit it states, “I plunk the children in school nine days out of ten. I put up with them when they come home three days a month,”(Bradbury 93). The characters in the dystopian society are so controlled by television that they would rather watch TV than enjoy time with their children.
