I have been able to acquire a better knowledge of how research relates to nursing practice, and how findings could be used to transform the field of nursing. The term Evidenced-based practice (EBP) is one of the most talked about concepts in healthcare. Nursing scholars, worldwide, have sought to provide healthcare workers with the evidence from research to be transform this into clinical care. To ease this transference of data into practice, scholars have developed EBP models. These models direct the researcher with the process from hypothesis to implementation of the data. The perplexity of EBP is that the data can come from research, clinical experience, patients, or local context and environment (Rycroft-Malone, et al., 2012). Because of the complexities of driving research in the healthcare field, different models were developed with different healthcare agendas in mind.

Nurses have to work with the health care team to develop and implement the best-individualized, evidenced-based plan of care for the patient. Nursing practice is informed and modified in response to systematic evidence based decision making. Nurses use research to provide evidence-based care that promotes quality health outcomes for individuals, families, communities and health care systems as well as to shape health policy in direct care, within an organization, and at the local, state and federal levels (Quigley, 2017).

Health care organizations require excellent management and leadership to keep the institutions running effectively. I agree with you that the Nurse Executive (NE) contribute to senior leadership by giving nursing a voice and oversee many functions in the organization. The NE has an important role to play in health care decision making. They have the ability to advocate for implementation of evidence based practice (EBP) in improving patient care while maintaining the vision and mission of the organization. Clinical nurses faces many challenges to use the EBP and that where the NE intervenes since they have the persuasive and decisional power to make EBP utilized within the organization. (Lavoie, Anderson, Bonneville, Drevniok, & Lavigne, 2012).
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has identified nine essentials that are incorporated into master’s nursing programs in order to help guide the practice of advance practice nurse (APN). Essential II outlines how an APN can utilize organizational and systems leadership to promote safer and more cost effective care to patients. The transition from an Associate Degree (AD) nurse to a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a rewarding time during a nurse’s career. There are many reasons why nurses return to college to get their BSN degree. Some return to meet a personal goal others return for professional advancement or are mandated by their employer to do so. Over the past few years many organizations stopped hiring AD nurses or drastically reduced the number they hire. Many AD nurses who delayed returning to school regret not doing so sooner when they realize the wealth of knowledge gained from getting their BSN degree. This knowledge opens up an endless number of opportunities for professional growth.

By researching barriers to breastfeeding in the neonatal intensive care (NICU), policy changes are noted to be indicated. The objective of this Dissemination Plan is to identify and organize the activities to be performed in order to promote breastfeeding in the NICU to the key stakeholder and the greater community.
For this week’s discussion post I will identify a situation where evidence-based practice has been applied in my workplace. Evidence-based guidelines are put in place and into practice after research has been completed. This helps with intertwining practice and research and are established by professional organizations, government agencies, institutions, or expert panels (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). These clinical guidelines give clinicians findings to help in the decision making process of diseases or treatments.
