National Day Parades – How Does Singapore Attempt to Unite the Nation Using Such Cultural Performance?
National Day Parades – are they just a joyous occasion for us to celebrate our Nation’s independence, or is there something deeper than that? The highly sophisticated sociocultural background of Singapore has often been mentioned in reports, both nation-wide and globally. Leaders of other countries, for example Barack Obama, who was the President of the United States, has often commended Singapore for its economic success, attributing it to the efforts made in sustaining racial integration. (Raymond, 2015) With the ongoing reports of racial tensions that gave rise to incidences of social unrests, stampedes and other devastating events like the infamous 2013 Little India riots and 2014-2015 Battle of Ferguson that have led to the death of many, these serves as a firm reminder for all Singaporeans not to take the peace, stability and harmony that we get to enjoy for granted. This is especially apparent, ever since the racial riots in the 1960s that have often tried to threaten the social fabric of post-independence Singapore. In this essay, I will be analysing how National Day Parades, which are a form cultural performance, are attempts made to unite the Nation. I will be analysing the past Parades, while paying particular attention to the 2017 National Day Parade as well. Through the course of this discussion, I will mainly be focusing on the locations were the Parades were

This essay will explain why the Declaration of Independence has had the greatest impact on revolutionary America, why it also overthrows the importance of the book “Common Sense” and which author had the greatest impact on the current wars. When these two historical figures are examined, everyone should know that they were successful at a variety of things. For example, Thomas Jefferson is the author of the widely known Declaration of Independence and the third president of the United States, and Thomas Pain, another well-known author who created the Pamphlet “Common Sense”. Paine was also an English-American political activist, philosopher, political theorist and revolutionary.
To begin, Columbus Day should not be a holiday due to the role he played in the fiendish treatment towards the Indigenous People of the New World. Before Columbus had ever set foot in the Americas, many footsteps had been there before him, such as John Cabot, the Vikings. He was not the first man to explore, but he was indeed the first to exploit this “New World” to Spaniards, French, British, and Dutch. However, even if Columbus was the first to bring publicity to the wonders of the New World, he was also the first to integrate cruelty towards one specific race. In Jack Weatherford's Examining the Reputation of Christopher Columbus, Weatherford dutifully describes how “Columbus tore children from their parents, husbands from their wives” (Weatherford
I’ve gotten to play frisbee all over the country, including Chicago, Minnesota, California, and Oregon. Traveling to frisbee tournaments as a team brings the team closer together, as we gain a better understanding of each other; as we spend time together, our teamwork improves. In fact, I’ve been playing team sports since I was in first grade, so I have a lot of experience working in teams. For example, I’ve played soccer since I was little, and I am now the goalie for my high school. As the goalie, I can see the entire field, so it is my job to get everyone in the right spot; it is my job to get the team to work together.
At the point when our founding fathers were establishing our nation, they imagined a decentralized government that ensured our God-given rights and was established on the rule of self-administration. They took a chance with their lives, fortunes and respect to make the best country the world has ever known in view of restricted government association in the regular day to day existences of Americans. They were likewise tired of incorporated power, making the tenth Amendment to control the central government's voracious want to extend and develop. They wanted people to have a say in the government and that the government only derives its legitimate power from the consent of the governed. Even though our founding fathers could establish a good
