Many real world events inspired authors, like Rod Serling, to write stories and make TV shows. Emmett Till’s story was definitely a huge event that Serling was eventually able to write about. Rod Serling was an author that would write about important topics to always tell us or warn us about something if we aren't careful. Like many authors, Rod Serling was influenced by bird and important real world events and by some experiences he had gone through. At first, he struggled with being censored, but turned to science fiction to tell meaningful stories about events, such as Emmett Till’s death, and also many controversial themes like paranoia in “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.”

In “The Green Monster,” James McWilliams informs the reader about GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) and the affects it has on animals, plants, farmers and our food. Reynolds begins her article by summarizing Wendell Johnson’s earlier life. She discusses the events that led up the thesis of his experiment. She tells her audience that Johnson was a stutterer; he stuttered quite severely and wanted to learn about the defect.

In the novel Monster by Walter Dean Myers, Steve Harmon is a 16 year old boy from Harlem, New York that was accused of being a look out for a robbery. This robbery resulted in the killing of the of the owner, Mr.Nesbitt, and became a felony murder. Steve is put on trial that could result in 25 years to life in prison if he was guilty.
The main conflict is person vs person. The priests and teachers at the school did not let Charlie have freedom, because of that Charlie went against the rules. He risked his life to do what he enjoys. Eventually he died doing what we finally wanted to do, go outside.
