The Civil Rights movement was one of the most popular African American movements throughout American history. This widely known movement aimed to secure equal access to opportunities, privileges, and rights of U.S. citizens for African Americans. The peak of this movement occurred during the 1950s and 1960s even though the movement can be dated back to the 19th century. The Civil Rights movement was centered on the diminishing racial inequality n education, politics, and the economy, as well as, the Jim Crow laws that restricted blacks from voting.
