The south suffers a lot of damage because of the war. It causes their economy to drop rapidly and thus plantation owners suffers a lot of loss. As the south was dominated by mostly agricultural businesses, the loss in the civil war impacts a lot of plantation owner. Slaves are free in the third part of the book and to work for somebody, they must be paid. Economy throughout the states were starting to grow better after the war but not progressing a lot.
From the North's perspective they couldn't understand why the South would fight for such a ignoble cause. A cause that treated other human beings so inhumanely and unethically. From the South's point of view, they just wanted freedom to govern and live by their own rules and standards. They believed that the Union didn't have a place for them and that they were going to establish themselves as their own entity. Neither the Union or Confederate understood the other's perspective and this power struggle along with the confusion led to America's bloodiest war.
In the paragraphs of chapter 4 it’s all about right after the civil war and the effects placed on the south. The economic status of the south was poor. This was due to the fact during the war everything was burned and destroyed from Sherman’s march. This also was a great cause to death within the south and people lost everything they had during the civil war. The south had to be rebuilt from the bottom up and they had to learn a whole new way of living/thinking.
Which made many northerners feel that they had to get rid of slavery. Then it angered the south because they felt that what was said in the book is not what slavery is like. Then the election of 1860
Southerners were fighting the war to preserve the states right and slavery. Many southerners thought they were fighting for their way of life and
The North was the hub of factories, the new ideology of bring the workers to the factories, as with the Lowell Girls. The Lowell girls being young ladies leaving their family farms for a short time to make some money before returning home to be in their rightful place of barefoot and pregnant. The factories in the North needed the cotton from the South: this lead to a feeling of abuse in the South due to prices on many manufactured items when they had produced the cotton to begin with. When war came the South believed “King Cotton” would win the war simply because the North would be unable to produce goods to export to Europe. Britain and Europe did not need the cotton from the South and disagreed with slavery more than anything else.
Throughout the course of the Civil War, Southerner’s felt as if the North was impending upon state’s rights and their way of life, which was based on slavery, was put at risk by the Union . At different points in the war, Southerners felt that the Union posed a bigger threat than before, especially after Abraham Lincoln gave the Emancipation Proclamation speech. The Civil War was not only fought by free Americans, but as times changed, enslaved people also took up arms alongside the Union and fought the Confederacy. The inevitable Civil War resulted in the South’s demise and them rejoining the Union. When the Southern States began to secede, they felt as if the Union and Northern Democratic party we’re threatening the lifestyle they had grown so used to.
The north hates slavery, so they got mad at the south for what happened. At first, when the north found out that the slaves were fighting back, they got a little joyful. Then, the north got fired up when they heard that the government was going to set new rules. The north then wanted to fight the south because the slave laws got more harsher because of the new laws. The north also got mad at the south because more than 120 slaves were killed during the event.
The north being against slavery and the south supporting it was the main cause for the division which caused the war. Slavery was a major part in the Old South, and the loss of the war for the south would result in the loss of the most distinctive factor of the Old South. Many of the farms and plantations either had, or even relied on slaves, and once again Rhett saw this coming and advised Scarlett to get every last glimpse of the Old South. Rhett was very observant when it came to the events of the war, and he wanted to warn the others of the eventual down fall of the Old South. He did just that on the way to Tara, and what he said is very true.

He discusses the idea that not all people share the belief that the higher your quality of life is, the happier you are. In fact, the people of The Bathtub do not have a linear view of socioeconomic circumstance at all.

Bad Day at Black Rock Kathryn Abbott October 29 2015 DRAMA 3030 The unexpected arrival of a stranger to a small, Midwestern town creates a feeling of scepticism and suspicion, and through this the explicit meaning is revealed: Fear of the unknown and the moral and physical deterioration of a town left to its own devices. The film exemplifies these concepts through the use of mise-en-scène, and vivid cinematographic elements. The blood red coloured train stands out against a muted background.
The North suprised the South by fighting back, as the South thought they’d secede unopposed. The North fought because if they didn’t, they would end up losing their property, country, and freedom. Parallel to the South, they felt they were fighting to uphold what the founding fathers would want, which was to keep the Union together in their opinion. A soldier from Missouri said, “We fight for the blessings brought by the blood and treasure of our fathers.” (p.28)
This including the electing of Abraham Lincoln made the southern states feel like they were going to lose control of the political choices in the southern territories, which would have lead to them not having control over their area in general (American Civil War History). These events are all effects where the underlying problem was the conflict of slavery that was between the north and south states. Showing how much of a factor it was during the civil war era. In the film 12 Years a Slave the editor, Joe Walker, makes use of a couple of techniques and styles that adds to the film in its own way. Long shots – Joe kept the long shots as long as he thought was necessary to add to the subject matter and the feeling he wanted to bind with the story. At the end of the film there’s this extremely long shot where Solomon is practically staring at the camera for about a minute and a half. The timing of that shot is so perfect because it’s not too short so you don’t have enough time to think about what just happened or too much time to overthink the situation. Closer to the end of the shot he lets the sound fade slowly and rapidly gives you a wakeup call when the next shot starts off where Solomon and the rest of the slaves are busy working in the field.
