The caves have been carved on the vertical and conclave slopes of the basalt plateau of Deccan trap which is one of the great volcanic formations, known in Indian geology. The term trap is a vague general term which denotes many igneous rocks of widely different nature but here it is used not in that sense but in Swedish meaning of stairs or steps like aspect of the weathered flat topped hills of basalt which are common features in the scenery of Deccan. Ajanta caves are the series of 29 cave related with Buddhist. It was carved in 2 century B.C. out of horseshoe shaped cliff along with Waghora River which streamed directly to caves. The Ajanta caves are situated at the head of one of the Ghats that lead down from the Indhyadri Hills, dividing the tableland of the Deccan Trap in the Tapi …show more content…
Flaking of paint surface and powdering is the major issue in deterioration of paintings. For consolidation of paintings, chemical solutions are injected to avoid the flaking. The gaps between wall and painted surface are filled with lime mortar or suitable materials, so that the layer which was about to fall is now fixed to the wall. Measures like removal of old preservative coat followed by applications of fresh/preservative coat and to make the color look bright are undertaken. 3. Monitoring the humidity: The studies are being made to monitor the relative humidity and maximum minimum temperature. The studies so far indicated that there is not much of fluctuation in the temperature and it varies generally between 20 degrees to 28 degrees whereas there is a great change in relative humidity and the humid condition have given rise to the insect activity and microbiological growth.
4. Application Of Preventive Coat: After the cleaning and consolidation process are complete, the last step is application of preventive coat to the paint surface. The coat firmly fixes the paint layer to the ground and also prevents the colors from fading. The material used for coating should give a colorless transparent look. It should be resistant to the external factors and should not affect the paint surface. It should be reversible and one should be able to remove the layer when
The “bell-shaped stupas” in Borobudur show how Buddhism was elaborated as it spread across Asian countries (Doc 2). The stupas create the shape of the Buddha as it is made for meditation and are distinctively found in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, this shows how art portrayed new developments of Buddha’s image, such as in the “Seated Buddha of Gandhara” in Pakistan (Doc 4). The statue represents the Eastern and Western culture as Greeks made the statues resemble Greek gods to portray the Buddha wearing a toga. This combines the culture of Hellenism and transforms Buddhism into a different image.
This process also includes a liquid clay called a slip which is applied to areas that we not become black.
This art piece is very similar to the Gorham’s Cave Art and is slightly similar to the Venus of Willendorf. One noticeable similarity is Gormham’s Cave also used sharp stones to carve images and used the same technique of cross hatching. However, the Venus of Willendorf was similar to the La Pileta because of the use of sharp stones to carve images. The difference between my selected works is the fact that the La Pileta Cave consisted of 60 animal figures and some 50 serpent drawings.
Yousef Alloughani Dr. Tatiana Sizonenko Art History May 17, 2016 Introduction Among the oldest forms of art are paintings. The earliest paintings date back to 300 B.C.E. where people at the time were accustomed to painting inside caves.
Based on radiocarbon dating the Chauvet cave appears to have been used by humans during two distinct periods: the Aurignacian and the Gravettian. The cave is located in the Ardeche region of southern France, and it is known for the earliest and best-preserved figurative cave paintings in the world. What makes these cave paintings so unique and so special were how they were sculpted, and the patterns that were associated with not just this cave, but other caves in general during the prehistoric times. The most common stenciled arts in caves were large wild animals, such as bison, aurochs, deer, and horses. Many of these paintings were often associated with animals that were hunted by humans.
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
Chicano art as 3 common themes - Immigration, geography and displacement. Taking an activist stance, artists illustrate the historical presence of Mexicans and native people in the Southwest, the abuse of undocumented immigrants, racial profiling, and the militarization of the border. “Many Chicano artists have focused on the dangers of the border, often using barbed wire as a direct metaphorical representation of the painful and contradictory experiences of Chicanos caught between two cultures”. (Chicana and Chicano Art. Jackson, Carlos Francisco)
What connects with that is it gives us a change to view their culture, of how they dressed and ate overall which is really unique to see for historians. Form the discussions and detail we went into when it comes to this era and the art that they have, we can really see just how since the dawn of time, humans have always been artistic and that shows by the many artifices of art that they have left behind for us to see. The cave art is unique, because it shows the way humans during that time viewed animals and held them up
Diego Rivera: Mexican Painter Diego Rivera was a big man both literally and figuratively. He dominated the Mexican art world from after the Mexican revolution until his death. In the online article entitled, “The Painting on the Wall”, by Peter Schjeldahl, we see Rivera revive and put to use the antique medium of fresco painting. The Fresco painting used things such as pigments to impregnate a paste of marble, dust and water-treated lime (Schjeldahl).
Chicano art possesses a true aesthetic, mirroring a diverse and ever-changing Chicago reality. Today's Chicano art is multipurpose and multifaceted, social and psychological, American in character and universal in spirit. Chicago is considered as people's art movement, outside of museums and hierarchy, so it continues to establish radical or protest art. Since most Chicano artist continue to be rejected for the creative works due to cultural bias therefore, Chicano art does not appear in museums, alternatively motivating the tension between artists and art authority. Chicano art can be expressed as the experiences Chicanos went through by deciphering codes in images, signs, and symbols.
Purpose: To inform the audience about my trip to South Dakota and why it is my favorite vacation. To inform the audience of the many different places I went and activities that I did while in South Dakota. Thesis: My trip to South Dakota was the most memorable vacation I have been on because of the many marvels the landscape had to offer. I fondly remember diving into history and learning about the historic sites, marveling at the vastness of the Black Hills and Badlands, and gawking in amazement at the beauty and mystery of the caves.
Throughout history and across cultures woman have lived under the parameters of a patriarchal structure. Stories like Jamaica Kincaid’s “Girl” and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper,”, inspired by two cultures (Caribbean and American) and different eras (1983 andvers 1893) reflect women's struggle within this structure. A structure in which women have blazed a trail and have fought for a space, the freedom and the respect within their community (Fix this sentence – it is grammatically incomplete). Despite that women should accept and follow patterns of a pre-established prototype of behavior, that do not allow them to development their intellectual capacities, limiting their professional and social role to wife or housekeeper,

Hameeda Mohammadi 31- Oct- 2017 Andras Kraft FYS In what ways did the writings of Plato’s Republic and Hayy ibn Yaqzan foreshadow the theme of enlightenment? Have you ever thought of an individual living through life utterly bound and confront a reality that doesn't even exist? Probably an individual has ever questioned himself/herself regarding the purpose of him/her being in this world and enquired about the term reality. Throughout human history such kind of questions and many others have been asked by those who thought rationally and were supposed to lead a prosperous and purposeful life.
