It all started off as a big dream to Walt Disney, when he thought of making a successful amusement park called Disneyland. As a children Walt always dreams about to doing something big and created. As he got older, he began to create thoughts and decide to start making short films and movies. Walt Disney was born December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. Walt is the child of Elias and Flora Call Disney. (www.justdisney.com) During the fall of 1918, as he began his career, Walt attempts to enlist for military service, but he got rejected because he was underage. Walt Disney amusement park was finally open to the public. Unfortunately, there was a huge problem on the opening. It ran out of food and drinks. A women’s high heel shoe got stuck in the wet asphalt of Main Street USA. The ride Mark Twain Steamboat nearly capsized from too many passengers. The park’s drinking fountains were left dry.(www.history.com) It was a gas leak in Fantasyland so they had to close the rides: Adventure and Frontierland and Fantasyland for the afternoon. Many press reviews speculated that Disneyland would not last long due to the opening day disaster. The first two people who was one of the first to step foot in Disney were a little girl named Kristina Graef and a little boy named Michael Schwarther. “ Being the first girl in Disneyland is something I hold dear to my heart.” said Kristina Graef. Graef said she visited when the Matterhorn Bobsled in 1959 and again when the Pirates of the Caribbean open in the late 1960’s. Michael said he remembers that he wore a gold Mickey Mouse watch that his mother bought for him during the 30th anniversary of Disney.
