Not necessarily for college applications, but moreover on the experience that I will gain by being a member. In fact, the opportunities such as giving back to the school and the community will surely hold more value than it would in my college applications. In addition, if I do get accepted, I will surely not be the first to write that I was an NHS member, so would it really make much of a difference? I believe I will be a great contribution for the National Honor Society. Growing up in an unfortunate family, I have learned to take my education seriously and apply for organizations to serve as an inspiration.
I would like to become a better person all around. Becoming a better person would make me so much happier than what I already am. Putting a smile on someone’s face is what I want to do each and every day. Transforming my life is huge to me. I think that working two jobs and moving up to a better job is going to help me in the transforming process because I will have money to help people out whenever they need it, I will be able to provide for my family.
Family is very important to me to have at this particular time. They have always been there to help me to get where I am today and where I can be in the future. My family has always encouraged me to complete my goals and dreams and if it takes working more than one job they would do it in an insistent. Other than my family friends have been great for getting support and ideas that can be very beneficial for myself and for them as well. Having my family and friend has been wonderful to have them every step
Stirling McKelvie Dr. Robinson SOC 1020, Section 002 17 January 2015 The Sociological Imagination In this article, C. Wright Mills discusses the experiences of life adjustments on two opposing sides of individuals in opposing scenarios. Mills argues that no one can fully understand the life of a person or society without analyzing both sides. Many do not realize that the actions they take, the lives they live, affects future generations. The main points Mills discussed were: 1. You must understand history, social context, and individual biographies and philosophies in order to reach “sociological imagination”.
We have the strength to choose what affects us and what doesn 't. Everyone can choose how they want to portray themselves and how they really are on the inside. Every moment we live, we are experiencing situations that affect our identity, but of course we chose to live that way therefore we choose our identity. Our identity is chosen by
As a professional, it is my personal responsibility to help cultivate the community that they live in. Children are the future and I believe that interventions and social programs will award all children the best opportunity to flourish. My personal experiences in aiding the vulnerable population have served as a basis for growth and preparation. It has been shown evident in my life
The people that we are, the characteristics that we are born with, are often changed or maybe kept, but other behaviors are added to them, behaviors that are found around us. Our identities are ever-changing; they rise from our cultural backgrounds, our ancestors and our histories. Modern behavior finds its way to fit in with our behavior, and finally our identities take pieces of other people’s identities and languages, and eventually incorporate them in ours. When we are enriched, our language is richer with us, we add to our culture. As people, it is impossible to have language, the concept of words and expressions, without linking these to any sort of culture.
With the difference in age between myself and my two older brothers, I believe I was put in a position that allowed me to mature quicker than others my same age and this is part of the reasoning that I am self-motivated and driven to succeed. Furthermore, my parents have always been by my side and supportive of all my endeavors and have given me the support, encouragement and resources needed to reach the level of accomplishments I have achieved. These life experiences have made me a more independent individual. If it weren’t for my family’s effects on me, I don’t believe I would be the person I am today. Moving on to what I have done personally to further my education, I have done many projects that were either school related or independent.
I want to become a counselor or a social worker because I have an urge to help out in any way I can. I want to live my life knowing that my acts in life could hopefully make someone’s life a little bit better. Making a difference in someone’s life is something I want to do because when someone made a difference in my life, it was one of the most generous and loving favors that I could have received. After I have my career chosen, I plan to buy my own house. I know that I will have to work hard and save a lot of money, but that is why it is my other long term goal.
Otherwise, I would only be volunteering there because I wanted to meet my graduation requirements and not because I genuinely am enjoying my time there. It would be as if I was just playing sports in my free time and not only trying to get community service hours. Although I love to help others, even if it wasn’t while performing a passion of mine, I would have much more fun doing something I loved to do. Advising others at a sports camp incorporates both of my interests in helping others and playing sports. I would be able to play a lot of different sports, which I love to do, give back to my community, obtain service hours, and more.
Lastly, knowing the society could help you prosper at being a guardian to your children, friends, and neighbors. Most often, the most important things are the people that we are closest to. You must be aware of your society to get a home and job to provide for your loved ones. It would be difficult to get the necessities and desires without a well paying career and a roof to live under. In conclusion, being a guardian could be on a larger scale or a smaller scale.
I would be honored to be able to contribute to the National Honor Society if given the chance to take part in such a prestigious organization. Ever since I was in elementary school, I have driven myself to achieve knowledge with all the effort that I could muster. This drive is why I want to be a member of the National Honor Society; I believe that the organization will help to encourage my desire for scholarship by developing my leadership skills. I yearn to have a more positive impact on the people in my life, in my community, and in society in general. I believe that the organization will provide me with a better chance to achieve that goal by presenting me with more opportunities to help out in the school and community.
It is a leader’s responsibility to serve others and inspire them to live fuller lives. Throughout the past few years, I have worked to become the best leader possible in hopes of enacting positive change. I’m often the person my friends turn to when they need encouragement. Though it can certainly be nerve-wracking to risk failure, seeking new opportunities is an important avenue of growth. I attempt to incorporate this message in all of my endeavors, including as a Gatton Academy Avatar.
Being selected and serving in The National Honor Society would truly be a honor. Being selected into this program would be important to me because of the opportunities it offers. I have heard of The National Honor Society but never had to the chance to serve in it. This being my first time would really allow me to immerse myself in beneficial learning and serving along side my peers. I will be able to expand my leadership skills while being able to serve my community that I longing wanted to give back to because of all it has given me throughout my life here in Columbus.
I want to become a member of National Honor Society because it will help me enhance my leadership skills, along with other important character qualities such as academic achievement, serving others, and developing my character traits. Becoming a part of National Honor Society will give me opportunities to help and learn more about others. I enjoy volunteering in my free time since it is a way of me giving back to my community, getting to meet new people, and gain more experience. If selected, I will help give back to my community by committing my time to volunteering and fundraising for non-profit organization.
