My ambition to become a registered nurse actually evolved from / into the years when I had my daughter at twenty-three weeks gestation . My strong desire to care about / for the sick and the needy made it even stronger . my interests in Western Governors University nursing degree program has continued to grow following my personal research in the school . I have come to learn that , Western Governors University has an excellent faculty in the school of nursing and a track of creating well groomed and prepared nurses for the challenges ahead in the field . I have always believed in attending the best schools so that I can maximize my potential for learning .
I vigorously educate women and girls in my community about the dangers of FGM. I particularly enjoy women integrating into society. It brings me joy to know that I have made a difference in someone else’s life. I know that there will be challenges ahead, but I have the faith, potential and determination to reach my vision of becoming a nurse. I also believe that nursing is highly competitive, and rewarding at the same time.
Joining a professional association for nurses is one of my short-term goals. In this association, I aim to identify mentors to spearhead my learning patterns. Similarly, I frequently attend specialty conferences besides getting involved in different exchange programs that improve my communication skills. On the other hand, one of my priorities in forming my long-term goal is to advance in educational career. Climbing up the ladder to achieve a master degree in nursing will be the first commendable achievement.
Incorporating these values will help me reach my goal, by applying them into my daily life at work when I become a registered nurse in the future. I plan to continue my education full time because I understand the demands of an accelerated nursing program and preparation for the NCLEX test is a substantial commitment. I think the curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, a degree program that requires pre-requisite science classes and natural science classes, helped prepare me for the requirements nursing will bring. I have also take pathophysiology as an elective at MSU and completed the State of Ohio’s STNA course and examination. I had always dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was a little girl, at this moment my dreams were different. Going through this experience with the knowledge I had previously gained, changed my thoughts about my future career. I was now inspired to be a nurse, a nurse practitioner to be exact. I see how my courage to handle this maturely and confidently helped my father feel comfortable with me assisting him. I had never been placed in this situation of having to actually put forth my skills, but thankfully for this experience, I came to realization of what my future profession was truly supposed to be.
