In the 1996 Census, it was recorded that 3180 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were living in Logan City. This represents 1.6% of the Logan City population. It is important to take into account the area’s history when creating a curriculum for children as some of these families may be direct descendants from the original inhabitants of the land. Where possible, there should be Aboriginal activities included in the curriculum – perhaps creating nets or fishing rods out of what can be found in the garden and some string.

My research on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Communities, led me to my local Council, the City of Whittlesea, as I am not currently working or started my work-placement. The City of Whittlesea recognises the rich Aboriginal heritage of Australia and acknowledges the Wurundjeri Willum people as the traditional owners. Before European settlement, the Aboriginal people of the Wurundjeri Willum lived on the land that now forms the City of Whittlesea and the northern suburbs of Melbourne. There are currently between 1000 and 1500 Wurundjeri Willum people living in Victoria.
Place names are very important to Aboriginal people, because the names of places give useful information. For example, certain names gives insight on places that are good for hunting, fishing, or it can also give a great description of the land. So when certain people are traveling, they used these names, as a guide to know where to stop, or what places to avoid. One of the most unique things about place names, is that some are used when telling stories about people 's experiences on the land. This is what makes the Innu culture so different from others, they use their environment, and the land that surrounds them to spread memories to their friends, and family
Good morning/ afternoon ladies and gentlemen I would firstly like to begin by saying that I am very pleased to be here and I would like to thank unity grammar college for having me here today as a guest speaker. My name is Kira, and I was present on the day of the Redfern speech. It was on December the 10th 1992 that Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating had given a speech on the aboriginal reconciliation addressing issues faced by indigenous Australians. Paul Keating was one of the first Australian prime ministers to address and acknowledge the fact that the Europeans were solely responsible for the complications faced by the aboriginal communities.
The spirit of travel and adventure are perhaps two of the most deeply rooted emotions in the human species. From the time the ancestors left the plains and savannahs of Africa to venture forth into the unknown, the human species have steadily spread all over the world and even beyond it towards the stars. But closer to modern times, it came to a point where only a select few dared to travel, explore and try new and exciting things. One such person was Thor Heyerdahl.

However, there is still hope. While the injustices of the Stolen generation, massacres and centuries of mistreatment against Indigenous Australians can never be erased, we can create future in which these atrocities never occur again. These atrocities emerge from ignorance and fear, so working to understand Indigenous culture must surely be the only path to removing the racism that plagues Australia. We have so must to learn from the rich cultural history of Indigenous Australians, particularly in their spiritual relationship with the land they have lived on for thousands of years. If we embrace this incredible knowledge, not only will we eliminate the barriers preventing equality in our society, we will also be stronger as a nation in both environmental and social relations.

The indigenous people of Australia, are both heavily traditional people, who have had to face some issues regarding communication, health, stereotypes as well as human right breaches. Aboriginals and Torres Straight Islanders are the indigenous Australians that are descended from families that inhabited Australia and its surrounding islands before the British colonized Australia. The indigenous Australians have inhabited Australia for around 60,000 years. There are several hundred indigenous Australian languages, and some are on the brink of extinction. There was originally 500 separate ‘nations’ which held different cultures, beliefs and languages.
Abstract Being an aborigine in a white dominated society is a complicated identity. Australia, one of the white governed nations, also owns many aboriginal tribes. They lived harmonious lives in the early period. But European colonization has made a profound effect on the lives of Aboriginals in Australia, which led to the total demolition of their native culture, identity and history. As a result the new generation Aboriginals have lost their Aboriginal heritage and have been accepted neither by Aboriginals nor by whites.
Everything happened last summer during vacation. Every year my family plans some wild, adventurous trip, and last year we were going to visit some of the states in the northeastern United States. The trip was going fine until we arrived at the state of New Hampshire. We were going to camp there for a few days, and that was when my parents announced that we were all going to climb Mount Washington. I was not too thrilled by this idea, in fact, I was relatively annoyed.
My Summer Experience 2015 Swimming in the ocean, eating barbecue with my friends and family, sunbathing at the beach and having fun with my best friend, these are only three activities I did during my favorite season, summer. My summer adventure was based on going to Juan Dolio with my best friend; Laura. We did many fun activities, made memories and got to know each other a little better. Summer is plenty of advantageous qualities that can benefit someone by doing numerous activities. I've always preferred the summer season.
