This subtlety means many kids believe that because apartheid is over and school are generally diverse, therefore racism no longer exists-that somehow we are living in a post-racial society (Zulu, 2017). However that is not true, there are some schools there that still promote/practise racism. Yes those schools do accept the learners which we refer to as “black learners” but they still treat them badly, “they” being the ones we refer to as “white learners”. So what happened during Physical Education is that learners had to be divided into groups and surprisingly how they automatically grouped all the black leaners in one group and all the white learners in one group, and that one group of white learners was broken down into smaller groups, so that the learning/working can be much more easier, but the black learners were still left in one big group and it seemed fine. For I haven’t experienced that kind of situation before, I had a chat with a group of black learners and it was very intriguing to hear that they always treated like that, whites with whites and blacks with blacks and often refer to the whites as the superior and intelligent ones.
Decades ago, children of various races could not go to school together in many locations of the United States. School districts could segregate students, legally, into different schools according to the color of their skin. The law said these separate schools had to be equal. Many schools for children that possessed color were of lesser quality than the schools for white students. To have separate schools for the black and white children became a basic rule in southern society.
Some reasons why suggest this is because high school students are also called young adults, which means that they are more mature than younger kids and those who know what the word nigger means will not go out and call the dark skinned people by that term. The next reason why I support high school students being thought text that contains the word nigger in is because it is good knowledge. Students should get to know what is happening in the outside world, what I mean by this is that the word nigger was used in our past time a lot to represent slavery. The separating of black and white has caused many problems in society and these inequalities are still felt today. Rebellion, revolution, boycotting and even riots, have led to tensions between the two races. Additionally, desegregating schools led to a learning gap between black and white students. The Constitution states that no state can make the law that takes away the rights and privileges of citizens making them immune to it. Desegregation of public places should be allowed because it is inequitable to separate humans based on the color or pigmentation of their skin.
There was one student at the University of Oklahoma that was treated with disrespect and inferiority because of how he looked and how he acted. The poor conditions for blacks in schools under the “Separate but equal” doctrine caused the NAACP to file 5 different cases that took out segregation from schools and the Supreme Court’s decision created history. The conditions for black students were horrible and unsanitary. The ¨Separate but Equal¨ doctrine was created in 1896 to keep blacks and whites away from each other (Somervill 28). This was to keep them ¨Equal¨ but really did not because all of the black areas were not kept in good condition and the white´s was.
Hyphenations placed on colored Americans provide a feeling of inferiority, leading to discord between citizens of the United States of America. Hyphenations lead to inequality received by non-whites in the United States. Therefore, other cultures within America receive little credit for the good of America 's culture, because of the distinction between race. For example Mukherjee claims, “Conversely, in 1994, Tavares, Florida, the Lake County School Board announced its policy (since overturned) requiring middle school teachers to instruct their students that American culture, by which the board meant European-American culture, is inherently ‘superior to other foreign or historic cultures.’”(Mukherjee pg. 19) When the Lake County School Board announced the new policy, the board expressed the beliefs of Tavares, Florida and what the community deemed necessary for the children 's education.
Eyes on the Prize The ultimate goal was to be treated as an equal among Caucasians. They did not want to be seen by their color, but as an equal human being. One reason this couldn’t happen is because of Jim Crow Laws. These laws made it almost impossible for African American people to be treated as an equals which isn’t right. Jim Crow Laws created a world where African American students couldn’t attend the same school as Caucasians students.

The "black table" could be a problem since it promotes segregation and isolation of a specific group. By having a designated table for a certain group creates descrimination to one 's self or others. In a school there should be diversity in which the students should be comfortable to socialize. Therefore, restricting others from the "black table" for any reason is creating division. Many years ago individuals faught for integrity and equality, therefore, the "black table" is ignoring the fight that was once made.
In Chapter 1 of The Wilmington Ten, Janken wrote about how students from all-white high schools could have been dispersed into all-black high schools in Wilmington, North Carolina in order to help integrate the school system. Instead, only students from the all black high school were dispersed into two different all-white high schools because the community good was defined by what was acceptable to whites. This is relevant to the course theme of critically assessing the significance of events in North Carolina’s African American history because “white privilege” is very prominent in today’s time. Even though the media displayed false information about the 1957 integration of Little Rock Central High School it changed peoples views on segregation. In A Mighty Long Way Little Rock, Arkansas nine African American students wanted to go to a well educated high school but they do not understand why so many people are angered that they are just getting a better education. During the integration of Little Rock Central High School in 1957, the media illuminated certain events and painted an inaccurate or incomplete picture of other events. The media illuminates many important events that show how racist white people are treating black people and showing people in the North who are against segregation and support integration. The media is illuminating racial relations in the South and they are showing how people in the North are being treated.
The Supreme Court ruled in their favor stating, "segregation of white and colored children in public schools has a detrimental effect upon the colored children. The impact is greater when it has the sanction of the law; for the policy of separating the races is usually interpreted as denoting the inferiority of the Negro group." However this decision did not suppress the racist ideals of Americans but in fact worsened them. In deep southern states, massive resistance against the new law erupted in protests, riots, and racial violence against the strive for equality. Some public schools even closed their doors rather than integrate and even reacted with
