It was the last inning of the 2020 Jr baseball finals; the winner would be declared the champions of the west region of the United States of America. The opposing team was one point ahead and Augustin’s team had one player on first base and another on second. Augustin sat on the bench next to his two best friends, Susan and Sam. They sat there for a while waiting for their turn to bat and not before long their team had received a strikeout. The kid who stuck out was a scrawny kid with glass who looked as if he was going to cry under the pressure of the game.
The Pressure was high for the girls in the battle against Refugio. The team was up by 2, “It was a tough game,” Jurnee Peikert (9) said, “They definitely put up a fight”. Back and forth, the score for each team was neck and neck after each inning. No matter if they were on the field or in the dugout, the girls continued to support their teammates.
Blood, Sweat, and Tears The crowd is screaming, two teams chanting, my heart is beating so fast as I squat behind home plate, and then I hear the umpire yell, “Play ball!” from behind me. Lone Grove has, once again, made it to the Class 4A Fastpitch Regional Tournament.

Going Down in History I remember it like it was yesterday. The adrenaline rush, the anticipation, the sky-high nerves, and the undying support from our small Community. Softball, just like football is a very prided sport in Danville.
One grueling afternoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama my baseball team found ourselves down 5-0 in the 3rd inning of the championship game. This game was like the world series for us, we had a chance to be champions of the country. The field had burnt orange clay and a vaguely green grass, the sun was setting making the clouds look like bright pink cotton candy. The best part was you could smell the salt water and hear the seagulls fly above. The team we were playing was called California Elite, they were remarkably intimidating.
As we go through our everyday lives, the evils of the world are easily visible to us. Between selfishness, burglary, and murder, it is reasonable to believe that humans are evil creatures. Although this is not proven, it is the favorable side to take. The proof for this side of the argument is plentiful. The fact that we have a government alone, shows that we don’t trust ourselves to make good decisions, and we need law to keep us in check.
