He was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement from the mid 1950s to the time he was assassinated, which was on April 4, 1968, in Memphis Tennessee. Martin Luther King 's grandfather and father were ministers, so Martin decided to carry that on by becoming a minister himself. Leading him to be able to give the speeches he gave and be heard. There’s many historical figures that emerged from this time period, and one of those figures being Martin Luther King Jr. MLK was known for being an incredible spokesperson, a kind, loving man, and was a strong leader for nonviolence to achieve equal rights for Black Americans. King was an incredible individual and helped many African Americans receive their equality they rightfully deserved.
