Concept of Depression
The word depression is actually just an umbrella term for a number of different forms, from major depression to atypical depression to dysthymia.
Depression: Causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home. Some important ways to fight off and deal with depression include lifestyle changes, like sticking to a balanced diet, sleeping well, thinking positively, keeping oneself occupied and engaged as much as possible, and above all seeing a therapist immediately when in a downward spiral.
