Caffeine
Caffeine, everyone has tried it; who does not like getting up on a cold blistery morning at a welcomed cup of hot coffee. Or, those who have found that coffee is an applauded relief that just makes their day go that much smoother. Long hours at work, no problem; just have one more cup to push one’s drained energy to finish those needed overtime hours. Adrenaline rush is great, especially if that artificial stimulating process happens very quickly. All of a sudden, before one can blink an eye, the subtle slow addictive processes of caffeine use have taken hold. Addiction is addiction, it does not matter the substance; the physical body has now become dependent upon an external source. A source believe it or not, is not always readily available especially in third world countries where the words Starbucks Coffee has

The old cartoon where Popeye the Sailor Man pops open a can of spinach comes to mind where superhuman strength is needed to mitigate the catastrophe. What would happen if Popeye ran out of his muscle building stimulant, especially when his true love Olive Oil needed to be quickly rescued? When individuals consume caffeine stimulating substances, they are telling their adrenal glands that the natural body functions are no longer in control of the situation; the caffeine demands that the overly stimulated adrenal glands force all other organs to unnaturally perform beyond their limits. The heart, liver and kidneys will compensate until they become overburdened. Once this occurs, every natural balance within the body begins to suffer. Sleep, bowel habits, breathing, eating, mental focus and emotions are all affected by the overstimulation brought on by
The author effectively uses logos to persuade the audience that caffeine is effectual by using a legendary mathematician, Paul Erdös, from the twentieth century. In order to keep himself awake, Erdös used “strong espresso and caffeine tablets.” (252) However, a friend bet Erdös that he would not be able to live without caffeine for a month. Erdös successfully won the bet, but “he found himself incapable of doing any serious work” (252).
What Hari and his findings concluded about addiction is that addiction doesn’t come from drug hooks, more so the root of addiction is depression and disconnection. “The Canadian physician Gabor Maté argues in his book “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts” that studies examining the medicinal use of narcotics for pain relief find no significant risk of addiction” (Hari). This being said, what we thought we knew about addiction isn’t correct. During the Gin Craze back in the 18th century an enormous amount of people was driven out of their everyday lives to urban slums, which through all their distressed caused them to drink their selves to death. Even if Gin wasn’t around, they would have found something else to ease the pain of everyday life.
Article Response: Java Man Malcolm Gladwell presents a description of the progression of caffeine, particularly in the Western culture in order to show the impact of caffeine in the world. Through initiating and presenting a description of the operation of Coca-Cola, Gladwell proceeds to capture the attention of the reader since most readers are familiar with the product. Moreover, Gladwell proceeds to dismiss the commercial artist referred to as Haddon Sundblom, including the scheme that was employed to enhance the popularity of Coke through the creation of caffeine for children. It is imperative to note that this initiative enhanced the popularity of Coke and made it a household beverage.
Many university and college campuses in Ontario have a Tim Hortons coffee shop on campus and students as part of their meal plan have the ability to access food, snacks and of course coffee. A medium coffee from Tim Horton’s has 205 milligrams of caffeine; add a shot of espresso and that brings the number up to 250 milligrams caffeine (Tim Hortons, 2015). It is not surprising that a student having a cup of coffee in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening to help with homework is well in their way to being physically and psychologically dependant on caffeine. There are many energy drinks available that contain caffeine; Red Bull for instance contains 80 milligrams of caffeine in 250 milliliter can, whilst a Monster energy
Addiction can be caused by a variety of things which can be categorized generally into environment factors, genetic factors and finally development factors. While these three factors are interconnected each plays a key role that leads to
Addiction is the number one cause of death in the US. Addiction can run in the family and be passed down through genes. Generally, that’s how addiction starts but it can start by recreational use, and then turn into something far more serious. In order to break the addiction, there is a 12 step program to follow, but one must be willing to admit there is a problem. Recovery is hard, but it is possible to maintain.
Smoking is a habit that many people have. When one wakes up in the morning they need a cigarette or when they are under stress a quick drag will soothe the nerves. People have habits such as drinking coffee as well. Before they can start their day, they need a cup of coffee with five creamers and five packs of sugar. “And some studies found that two or more cups of coffee a day can increase the risk of heart disease in people with a specific — and fairly common — genetic mutation that slows the breakdown of caffeine in the body.
As the energy drink boom continues I've seen at the gym (and read about) numerous accounts of increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, anxiety and panic attacks. In worse case accounts there have been gastrointestinal problems, increased ruination (further dehydrating You) dizziness, nausea, nervousness, and severe headaches. In a few cases, people have died from the severe caffeine “jolt”. But, that can't happen to me, right?
These drinks are both addictive. They both can increase your heart rate. Another similarity, is that their popular drinks among the people of the world. whenever you drink too much of either of them, it may hinder your health if taken in of abnormal quantities and cause an overdose if taken with other caffeine products. Taking precautionary measures is an important thing when consuming many of these caffeinated drinks.
Perspectives are often prejudiced by preconceived notions. Society has historically communicated that addicts are morally negligent people without any inclination to cease their destructive behavior and that the addiction itself is produced because of a character flaw or a weakness. Citing the addict’s seemingly careless attitude toward the financial burden and pain and suffering they arbitrarily cause others as proof of their imagined personality imperfections. As with numerous other things, unfortunately, experience is the best teacher. Before my personal journey with a drug-addicted child, I also held to the belief that an addict was an addict by choice and could stop the abuse by simply making the decision to.
Caffeine is a chemical found naturally in few plants all over the world. From these plants it is processed into its pure form and then put into other things such as soda, energy drinks, tea, and pills. Energy drinks and soda are some of the most widely marketed products in the world, even though they contain the highest concentration of caffeine outside of pure caffeine supplements. It is a stimulant that affects everyone in strange but semi predictable ways. Research has been done on this topic since the 1920’s and many different conclusions have been reached.
Whenever a consumer uses an energy drink a series of effects begin in his/her body. The organism receives an instant boost as the caffeine successfully manages to block the duties of the adenosine, a chemical located in the brain whose function is involved with sleeping. After the completion of the process caffeine forces part of the neurons in the brain to lighten up, which later on causes the body to release the hormone adrenaline. When the hormone is active it forces the liver to provide the bloodstream with additional
It is urgent that we pace the amount of caffeine from energy drinks that we ingest on a daily basis. When it comes to tedious duties
Interesting- So maybe it 's the B-12 with a combination of the caffeine? You have B-12 restoring energy while the caffeine gives you a burst of energy. However, several of people said they 've tried energy drinks but did not notice a burst of energy or any changes at all. Whether energy drinks are harmful, helpful and the kind of effect it can have on you but be connected to your genetic make-up.
Addiction is the reliance on a routine. There are many addictive stages. Addiction, as it comes along, becomes a way of life. The persistent use of the substance causes to the user serious physical or psychological problems and dysfunctions in major areas of his or her life. The drug user continues to use substances and the compulsive behavior despite the harmful consequences, and tries to systematically avoid responsibility and reality, while he or she tends to isolate himself/herself from others because of guilt and pain (Angres, & Bettinardi-Angres, 2008).
