In a blink of the eye the world goes black. One’s body becomes ridged. One’s eyes roll in the back of their head as their body convulses savagely. Helplessness and terror rush over one like a tsunami. Will this be it? Has the battle been won? Is the fight over? Questions race though one’s parent’s head as they witness their child having yet another devastating seizure. To families, whose children suffer from incapacitating seizures, this scenario is all too familiar. The reality is, for many, conventional treatments fall short. Nevertheless, cannabis oil has been a miracle treatment for many of these families. Yet, current legalities place pronounced restraints on the substance. There is hope though, in the form of new legislation. H.R.2273-Charlotte’s Web Medical Access Act of 2017 will remove CBD and CBD derived …show more content…
First, it will amend the Controlled Substance Act, removing cannabinoid (CBD) and cannabinoid plants from the definition of marijuana (Civic Impulse, 2017). By removing this substance from the list, products containing CBD will be easier to access. Furthermore, it will allow for the ability to research into its medicinal properties. This, in turn, would lead to a better understanding of the product and possible other conditions that it can effectively treat. In the United States Congress, this bill yields the hope of changing the lives of thousands. As of now, any research done on CBD is technically illegal. Fear of persecution has led many companies to refuse to study the agent. Consequently, the limited research renders a minute understanding of the long-term effects of the drugs in children. Let alone, how it works to impede seizures. With the support of this bill, thousands of families can have access to the therapeutic hemp product (Coalition for Access Now, 2017). Allowing children to receive the treatment they need and researchers the studies they wish to
The Legalization Lookup: Why is Marijuana so Bad? An issue that is hotly debated in today 's world is if marijuana should be legalized in the United States or not. Evidence collected from the state points to the fact that marijuana should not be legalized. First and foremost, marijuana should not be legalized because it is a gateway drug, which means that it leads users to other dangerous drugs.
In Marc Lewis’s novel Memoirs of an Addicted Brain (2012), his experience with marijuana was notably a rollercoaster ride. His first ordeal with the drug occurred when he was a teenager and decided to purchase marijuana from a friend. He began to use it at a period of stress induced by his friends, school and his parents. The first time he decided to take the drug, he dealt with coughing fits until he finally started to feel its effects. His description of his “high”, included the the drug placing him in a more imaginative, creative and happier state.
Marijuana is a controversial topic in America leaving everyone wondering, should it be or should it not be legal? Myself, having the similar question, looked at two different viewpoints regarding the issue. Only instead of primarily focusing on strictly marijuana legalization, I chose to specifically search for legalization of cannabidiol, oil that derives from cannabis. With using cannabis oil, or any drug, there is a risk that the product will give side effects, whether good or bad. According to Professors Wayne Hall and Louisa Degenhardt, they argue the latter: that non-medicinal use of cannabis has negative effects on a person’s health.
People have hard, unsafe drugs to escape from the problems they face in their daily life. Many kids suffer from depression as do adults and others that have gone through a lot in their life. And I know that many of them haven’t felt content in a long time, with a lot on their minds. Kids are a particularly relatable topic to this because many children go through a lot in their life, early in their life. My question is, “When should one be able to take a medication as serious as one like Psychamine.”
Millions of people around the world are consumers of marijuana. The demand for legalizing marijuana has grown throughout the years. Users of marijuana pledge for it to be legalized to avoid the prison life. For now, marijuana is an illegal drug in almost all countries. With the demand of it increasing, the legalization of marijuana has grown to be a very controversial topic recently.

The Costs of Criminalization Over the last 18 years, 23 state governments have legalized marijuana, taxonomically known as cannabis sativa, for medicinal use. Voters in these states have declared that the federal government has scheduled marijuana inaccurately, in that cannabis has many medical uses. Medical professionals in these states prescribe marijuana as a treatment for ailments ranging from insomnia and muscle pain, to post traumatic stress and epilepsy. But recently, we have seen a shift in marijuana reformation movements throughout the country.
Everyday patients are visiting their doctors in a desperate search for help with their problems, some physical and some psychological. Far too often in today’s troubled society a doctor is quick to hand their patient a prescription for a powerful and potentially harmful substance. The prescriptions could include drugs such as benzodiazepines for psychological problems and epilepsy, or opioids for pain. Both of those substances can have substantially dangerous and adverse effects and could lead to addiction and even death. Marijuana is a much safer and more naturally occurring substance that can be used for all of the previously listed purposes.
Back in the early twentieth century, marijuana was mainly used for medical purposes in the US. Now, both it 's recreational and medical use is increasingly being consumed by the population and the tendency is to continue increasing. Much has been said about the use of marijuana as a solution to different health problems, and although not everything that is said is true, it cannot be ignored that marijuana can help in the treatment of some cases of adult patients. CNN’s chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, was opposed to the medicinal use of cannabis. Based on his knowledge as a neurologist, he was convinced that the drug was dangerous and had dismissed its supposed therapeutic benefits.
The seizures and the pain stop almost immediately. Medical marijuana can save lives, and over 61% of the United States agrees (Loria). We don’t know
Section 2 of the bill would effectively de-schedule “marihuana” from the CSA. By removing marijuana as a schedule I drugs would end the federal criminalization of the substance and would remove its formal designation as an extremely dangerous
Starting from the beginning, I will tell you what marijuana - also called grass, ganja, pot, and various other slang terms - is. Marijuana comes from the Indian hemp plant and is the greenish-brown mixture of the dried flowers of cannabis sativa. When I was younger I used to believe that speaking positively about Marijuana, makes you look like a bad personage or either worse, a criminal. This opinion was based on the false information media produced and on the government laws of my country. However, by enhancing my knowledge, I have decided that cannabis offers so much to humanity, that not only it has many benefits, it has to be legalized.
Marijuana, also known as Cannabis, is derived from the Cannabis plant and is used commonly for either recreational or medical purposes. Marijuana is composed of chemicals such as tetrahydrocannabinol (HTC, and over eighty cannabinoids. Marijuana is acknowledged for providing smokers with a “high” feeling. Since the twentieth century, this illicit drug has been banned across the world. However, over the past few years studies have been conducted on marijuana and the results show that it can actually be helpful in many different areas of society.
Recently the use of medical marijuana has become a very controversial topic among the community and government. Marijuana has a stereotype with hippies and drug offences, often leading to its medical benefits being overlooked consequently marijuana is only rarely given to patients with extreme conditions. It is not being used efficiently as well as not being used to its potential. Several states in Australia still consider the use of medical marijuana a prohibited act and the few states and territories that don’t prohibit the drug only allow the use for medical conditions. However, it is very restricted regarding who can access the medicine.
