Droughts have been an inherent aspect of Southern California’s culture for generations. In recent years, however, this dire situation has become increasingly more dangerous. With 2015 being one of the driest years in the state since the 1930’s, water reserves are running on empty. Nevertheless, many regulations have been put in place to address this issue, though, most have not been effective. There are many ways that the Coachella Valley can aid in solving the drought, but perhaps the most simple has been underappreciated: remove your grass. Green lawns are a staple for the suburban family; however, they are very wasteful with regards to water usage. This is extremely true in the Coachella Valley where golf courses are important for tourism
