Pearl harbor was attacked on December 7th, 1941,hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The attack lasted just two hours, but it was devastating: The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. The question is, why did the Japanese attack in the first place? Many factors lead to the attack on pearl harbor including: Imperialism, Nationalism , and Embargo.

The first reason I think they attacked is because of Imperialism. Document (A) shows how they were trying to get rid of the old order because they thought it was crumbling and wanted to be in charge of the new order. They felt like they deserved more power and land, so they tried to take it. Document (C) shows the chain of events of them trying to take over neighboring lands from 1932 until 1938. They wanted more land and they took what they wanted.apan needed natural resources like oil, steel and iron. As shown in document (D) the U.S had cut Japan off of 80% of their oil. Oil that they needed to fuel their boats to move other resources in and out of Japan. …show more content…

In the (hook exercise), the Japanese were overwhelmed, and humiliated because of the Immigration bill the U.S had passed that was directed mainly at the Japanese people. Document (A) shows that they felt that they were the superior source of the Yamato race and want an Emperor ruled government. They do this because they feel that their way is the best way to rule. In Document (E) is prime minister giving a speech on how the U.S wanted them to retreat and withdrawal from the war, and how they already lost over 100,000 troops. They won’t leave the war because they would feel great dishonor and humiliation. They felt that it would show
