This essay states that globalization doesn 't threaten cultural diversity because globalization gives us a wider view of how we see the world today. According to Giddens (1990) Globalization is the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring miles away and vice versa, which he mentions as a “dialectical process”. Globalization spreads cultures and products around the world, connects people from everywhere, also it is something that affects the world as a whole. With that said, it doesn’t actually threaten anything, rather it expands ones freedom, renew cultures and cultural artifacts, while also giving people a wider range of choice.

The freedom that we are given to choose the certain cultural experiences that we receive enhances the quality of our lives. Even though it means spreading more diversity throughout everywhere, it may also spread just as much things that make us similar: more gourmet restaurants mean just as much more McDonald’s outlets. But that is due more to the fact that most people just tend to choose the same things, because sometimes its just more convenient than the other. Cultural pessimist tend to over think these things, they wish that things would just stay as they are, even though it’s ones own right to choose whether they want to be similar or different. Besides natural cultures are not as weak as they seem, like Mahatma Gandhi once said, “A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”. Foreign influence may affect it in some ways such as revising its natural culture, but it doesn 't destroy
